Newcastle Should Make Move For Top Dutch Striker Being Offered To Milan

Newcastle have been linked with prolific Dutch striker Myron Boadu since this past February. The 19-year-old has had a breakout season for AZ Alkmaar in the Eredivisie bagging 20 goals in all competitions while adding 13 assists.

In March, just before the coronavirus brought football to a screeching halt, a report claimed that Alkmaar would allow Boadu to leave if they received an offer of £18m.

A report from Italy claims that the Boadu’s agent, the infamous Mino Raiola, is shopping the striker around for an even lower fee of between £13.5-16.5m.

According to the report, Raiola is trying to tempt AC Milan into launching a bid for the Dutch international, who still has three years left on his contract with Alkmaar.

AC Milan are reportedly close to appointing former RB Leipzig manager Ralf Rangnick to replace Stefano Pioli this summer.

Milan will be looking to bring in a striker or two with Zlatan Ibrahimovic only contracted until June. No decision on the Swede’s future has been made yet.

Milan also sold former Newcastle target Krzysztof Piatek to Hertha Berlin in January. So if Ibrahimovic ends up elsewhere, they’ll only have Rafael Leao on the books from this year’s squad though they do have several strikers out on loan currently.

There’s a lot of upheaval going on in Milan at the moment so it may not be the best landing spot for the up and coming striker.

So if our prospective new ownership group rate Boadu, hopefully, they’ll have a chance to move for him this summer.

    “As you were…

Lacking even the energy to ironically post a picture of unopened beverages, like the killjoys we are, we’re unable to add anything to current takeover speculation.

Another week of digging has brought us precisely nothing, other than the usual assertions that it’s all “still in progress”, “with the Premier League” and that there’s no firm date for any announcement as yet”

Hibbit, I agree but also think we already have that experience in the side. Players like Lascelles, Shelvey and Dummett know the league as well as anyone. We don’t have to go for a 25-man rebuild, and those players don’t even have to be on the pitch to share their wisdom and experience with new arrivals. Keep the core of the team, the dressing room leaders and the guys who will still do a job if required. Cut any of the copious dead wood.

I also wouldn’t bother making any of the current loanees permanent. There are plenty of younger prospects out there at a similar standard that would cost less in transfer fees and wages. We should be aiming our sights a little higher.

    Kevin Vegan,
I’d be very interested to see how Joelinton gets on with the pressure off his shoulders and played in his preferred position. He must have been doing something right to have played so many games in the Bundesligas top scoring team without getting many himself. I doubt very much he wasxa passenger.

Harsh on Jetro Willems, I think. I’d love to see him signed permanently, injury issues notwithstanding.

I also would like to see more of Lozaro, who looks like a very good player.

Rose is a stop-gap and Bentaleb I think the jury’s out on.
