Tutto Mercato are reporting that French powerhouse PSG may we willing to part with current manager Thomas Tuchel this summer.
If they do, then Mauricio Pochettino would be one of their top targets.
Things have come to a head at the French club with Tuchel not wanting to sign on-loan 27-year-old Inter-Milan and Argentine International Mauro Icardi (8 caps, one goal).
But the 50-year-old Brazilian Sporting Director Leonardo went ahead and signed the player yesterday in any case, for €50M plus bonuses.
So the situation with Tuchel is a tenuous one at the moment, and he may be replaced this summer.
It seems that Leonardo and Tuchel have different ideas on players for the French club, and the concerned Brazilian Sporting Director will meet with owner Nasser Al-Khelaïfi about the head coach position this summer.
Mauricio Pochettino – in the running to take over at PSG
Here is the final paragraph of the TuttoMercato report:
“And if he manages to persuade Nasser Al-Khelaïfi that Tuchel is not the right manager for the future of PSG, he will then dive into the market with clear ideas on who to choose for his succession.”
“The first name is Massimiliano Allegri, the alternative is Mauricio Pochettino.”
“Although the latter is the head coach chosen by (Crown Prince) Mohammad bin Salman in the event of the acquisition of Newcastle.”
Allegri would seem to be an excellent choice for PSG, and it’s not a surprise he is at the top of PSG’s list,
But the 48-year-old Pochettino has proven himself at Tottenham, and we don’t even know if he’s been offered the job at Newcastle yet.
Probably not.
And we mustn’t forget the former Tottenham manager has said he would like to stay in England and manage in the Premier League, even if his family stays in their north London home.
If the Argentine manager is the first choice and then turns down the Newcastle job, that would presumably leave the way open for Rafa Benitez to return to the club.
Comments welcome.

“Preliminary results from our laboratory indicate that
opinion repetition from one source can lead individuals to change
their own attitude toward an issue”
So therefore if you talk about being a v*gan repeatedly on this blog, you will change the attitude of people here and some will follow suit. Is that the gist of it?

Comment #3The problem with getting someone like Pochettino is even under new owners we are still going to take a few seasons to even get to Spurs level!
He’s already got eyes on other jobs where he can challenge for trophies straight away so whos to say he wouldn’t just drop us next season when some of the bigger teams come calling?

Comment #4Speedy, agreed – I reckon a careful bit of photoshop and that photo would have been much more impactful.
Darnik, agree re the violence but both sides need to reign in the aggression and take a step back – shocking stories of brutality coming from both police and protesters.

If I actually was constantly bringing up veganism here using repeated words and phrases, you’d have a good point there. I am not, though.

repost from previous as missed the bus…
It will happen whether you are worried about it or not, and whether geordietom intends it or not. The more we hear certain phrases repeated, the more likely we are to believe them even when they are entirely false. Have you ever thought about why every big company has a slogan and they pay fortunes to have those slogans rammed down people’s throats on repeat? It is because it is an extremely effective way of manufacturing and governing public perceptions.
Why do you think journalists are repeatedly using phrases like “no red flags” and why do you think campains like #cans are introduced? They essentially rely on known psychological conditioning techniques to help sell an idea or encourage support for a certain set of beliefs.
I’m not just spouting this off the top of my head. I posted a peer-reviewed paper to support this claim. Did you read it and can you see where I am coming from? This paper explains that hearing the same phrase repeated just 3 times can change a person’t thoughts and beliefs. How many times have we heard this exact phrase repeated my geordietom? 3 times a day at least, I would say.

Comment #20Kevin, just to make sure I’m reading properly. Are you saying that when Tom posts the “I’m confident the takeover will go through” message, you are scared that you are being brainwashed by that?
So if you read Richard Keys posts and then Geordietoms afterwards do you get brainwashed to thinking its not happening and then to thinking its happening again?
Not even trying to be malicious or confrontational so please take my next comment from a place of concern and not malice but have you ever seen or thought about seeing a therapist for paranoia?

Comment #22Darnik, did you read that paper I posted? It is irrelevant whether he is saying “I am confident” or anything else. It’s purely about expressing the idea using repetitious language. The power of suggestion and the repetition of the phrasing alone is sufficient to create the effect.

Comment #27Kevin, take a chill pill lad.
You’re talking to me like I’m unaware of these issues. I’m perfectly aware of the methodology you describe. It’s perfidious with product placement in mass media and drip-fed advertising campaigns which mean you remember jingles for products years later.
Like I say, I’m not going to let Geordie Tom’s repetition bother me, nor should you – he’s not a malignant presence on this blog, far from it in fact, and his message is totally benign so why worry?
I really, honestly and truly don’t need you to be looking after my mental health, but thanks for the thought.

No offence taken. But personally I don’t beleive that it is “paranoid” to apply the results of an academic study to your own life. That is all I have done here. The study says “repeating words and phrases tricks your brain”, I am seeing Tom using repeated words and phrases so I am asking him to stop tricking my brain (albeit accidentally, I suspect).

Remaining positive in your own beliefs is one thing, accidentally using psychological conditioning to spread those techniques is another. I am perfectly happy for geordietom to believe whatever he wants and remain as positive as he wants. All I am asking is for him to stop with the repetative phrasing, as it is essentially a brainwashing technique and I found that concerning.

Comment #37Fair enough Kevin, I’ve just had a read of the link you posted and can see where you are coming from. I personally completely disagree that Tom commenting daily can brainwash you or anyone else but each to their own. The journalists have been regurgitating the same story for 2 months on a daily basis now so I’d be more worried about that than I would tom on a blog. But you believe what you believe and I can respect that.
