Newcastle United may take the pitch sooner than the projected start date of the weekend of June 19th. The Mirror are reporting that Premier League clubs have been given the green light to schedule friendlies before the season resumes.
This is another significant step taken by the league as they continue to make progress with Project Restart. It indicates that football is almost certain to get underway in a few weeks.
The most recent round of coronavirus testing showed no new cases. After four rounds, 12 players or staff have tested positive. We expect that another batch of testing will be announced soon.
Last week, clubs were permitted to ramp up to contact training, and some clubs (Liverpool, Southampton, and Sheffield United) have already done intrasquad matches.
Newcastle have released some video of the lads taking part in training. Here’s one with an outstanding goal by Valentino Lazaro.

Here’s another with a stunner by Emil Krafth of all people at the 23-second mark.
? Magpies' head coach Steve Bruce spoke to NUFC TV this afternoon after his #NUFC players were able to resume contact training at the club's Benton base.

It was quite funny how you referenced Ed’s request but then launched into your own diatribe!

Size really shouldn’t be a factor any more in this more enlightened era . Beardo was probably the best I’ve ever seen in a B+W shirt and the list of great smaller players is endless. It’s not and shouldn’t be all about pace and power. Matty L could be our Scholes under a proper coach.

its not as though they would have lost a lot of money though, for how long the PL have been going for I think they would have been able to handle it with the amount of money they will have stashed away, they have been going on from borderline stupidity to the full white coat locked up in a mental ward crazyness with there actions over how they have treated not just the players but with everyone else working in football grounds up and down the country with there idiotic ideas when all they had to do was null and void, send the money back to bt sports, sky sports ect ect, they would have soon made it up though

Missed the bus but replied on the other one. I’ve had agave before, it’s great! It had been a while since I’d eaten honey before I tried the stuff but I couldn’t say there was a big difference between that and the studf made by bees in terms of taste. Bit runnier but yummy stuff! I’ll definitely try some of the others, too. Thanks 🙂

Comment #21I think (Going back to Matty Longstaff) That this could be a smack in the teeth from Mr Ashley for a Geordie player and the Geordie fans. I can imagine him taking delight that we could lose one of our own.
If I were Matty Longstaff I’d sit tight and wait for the takeover to come about before making any decisions about his future. It could that he’d be on an even better wage when the new owners take control (and they will – soon I hope)

Comment #22Mund, repost from previous due to me not having an updated bus timetable:
Fair point, I did say witch hunt there.
I think the rest of my point still stands though. No idea why I am being singled out on this. I spent 2 hours posting on other topics (angosture bitters and Matty Longstaff) and deliberately not getting involved in that discussion. I assumed somebody would tell the others to drop it, but for some reason they didn’t and instead the bulk of the criticism seems to be coming to me currently. I’m more than happy to leave it there and would have stayed out of it from the start had it not already blown up into a major ongoing discussion. But I couldn’t sit here and hear somebody claim that the police don’t know when they are killing somebody. Everybody knows, it is very obvious, and the video of the incident shows civilians approaching the police and telling them the man is not responding while the officer continues to kneel on his neck. It had to be said IMO.
That’s all from me on this topic though. Happy to move on if others are willing to do the same. It’s a football blog, after all.

Comment #23kev i just found this some of the lads made comments about it earlier …
Do vegans age faster?
Some will need more work than others — but not for the reason you may think. Genetics and age aside, the condition of your skin often comes down to nutrition. “Being a vegan can be aging,” says Vargas. … The good news is that committed vegans can still put their best face forward…

Comment #24I agree , they should have voided the season and started afresh in August, but its not just the tv companies, its the sponsors, the advertising and everyone else who pays for the privilege of being related to a premier league side.
Some of the smaller clubs may have struggled to keep going as they are living above their means to start with…….The Prem are risking it though , they could be sued by one of the clubs who go down as the competition has changed.

Comment #25Also, looks like I owe somebody an apology. I stated the other day that they would not allow friendlies during partial lockdown, and it appears I was wrong. I have to say I’m surprised by the decision. Does this mean the rest of us will also now be allowed to meet 22 other people from different households?
Still, will be nice to watch some of that kicksphere again. I think that’s what we used to call it. Been so long I can’t remember.

That’s my point mate I agree with a lot you say I really do but there’s a time and a place and this isn’t it. It’s very touchy and people can take offensive because there’s a broad opinion on these things and people can take it personally.

not sure if the PL could be sued by a club as the proposals were put to all 20 clubs and all 20 clubs agreed to the new format they also agreed that the league should proceed under the new rules terms and conditions , in order to finish the season and clear the clubs of any financial liability to the tv companies,

Glad i could amuse you with my diatribe as you term it although it wasn’t bitter in my opinion just my honest take on the overnight postings I had caught up on.
Point i was making was that Ed “requested” certain things and apart from some alleged bans they have remained voluntary but regularly abused over many years. In the first years of Blog it was polite, no feuds and all about NUFC – posters changed that over the years even after requests in a particular thread for posters to respect his wishes.
Personally i am tired of others conveniently ignoring them but carping about others so now feel free to comment where there has already been much discussion. Having made my point i haven’t returned to it
If ED actually brings in a ban and enforces it I will be very happy having commented on breaches over the years to no avail and little backing from others . I also recognise that trying to enforce a ban other than by a filter as now ( which is circumvented daily by many) will be too timeconsuming.
So on that basis if there are comments on a topic which are already on Blog and I feel strongly enough to make a civil contribution on it then I will – keeping my thoughts to myself certainly hasn’t worked so far
I regularly skip the feuds and repetitive nonsense on here which others either don’t mind or as I suspect actually enjoy – each to their own

Think he needs around 7 games to trigger the auto-extension, something like that.
Unlikely based on his history and the close proximity of games coming up, no way he can manage a game every 3 days.

Comment #38On Matty unless I am missing something if he allows his contract to end he can simply become a free agent whilst he waits for the takeover to succeed or fail and then his agent can offer his services to other clubs if he doesn’t get a suitable offer or takeover saga just rumbles on.
I can’t see that his best interests are served by taking Udinese deal whilst everything is so unclear and Club are paralysed by Ashley waiting it out.
Is it a push to Club – but as I say it’s paralysed at present so does agent think this will break it
or
is it a come and get me to other clubs?
