Report – Newcastle Once Again Reported To Be In The Race For Top Director

In late May, there was a claim from France that former PSG Sporting Director Antero Henrique was on the shortlist to become Newcastle’s new Sporting Director should the prospective new owners pass the Premier League’s fitness tests.

It’s now been two weeks since that report, and we still have heard precious little from the league on the state of Newcastle’s sale to the Amanda Staveley-led consortium.

However, Henrique’s name has surfaced once again in conjunction with Newcastle’s takeover. Sport Witness is citing claims from the French outlet RMCSport that Henrique has been contacted by our prospective new ownership group about a role at St James Park.

The 52-year-old Henrique (pictured above) left Paris Saint-Germain last June after two successful years as the club’s Sporting Director. He had previously spent a decade in a similar role in his native Portugal with Porto.

Since leaving PSG, Henrique has been linked with Manchester United. However, the RMCSport claims that he could be tempted to come to Tyneside.

The report says that the potential new owners have spoken to Henrique about becoming Newcastle’s new transfer guru, a role he has had success with at both PSG and Porto.

This all sounds outstanding to us. However, we need to get this takeover approved before any of these enticing new additions being targeted can start to arrive.

No worries about the takeover, it’s as solid as can be. When the EPL are able to concentrate on something other than managing this season and next season, the takeover will certainly get the go-ahead. EPL also don’t mind keeping Saudi on tenterhooks because, as everyone knows, Saudi have been pirating the TV rights to spite Qatar. The legal challenge to this, however, fell to naught in the PSG case, and nothing can have changed to the detriment of Saudi since then, so we just have to wait, boys. It’ll happen, just wait: anyway, what’s spoiling? No football being played, so no worries. It’s a done deal, subject to the D&O tests, which are so feeble NOBODY has EVER failed to pass.

This has been debated quite a bit this week…Matty Longstaff yes or no?

I guess factors you all need to consider are:

1/ Are you just basing your decision soley on him being a local lad that you want to succeed.
2/ Is there a quality player in there somewhere or too early to say.
    3/ Is he way overhyped?
4/ Is he the standard we are looking for? As many of you have pointed out quite rightly he’s no Phil Foden.
5/ Is our youth team so lame compared to Southampton, Cheski, Citeh, etc we get way too carried away over an average players coming through?

Did you guys see the highlights of the closed doors game yesterday? Shocking pass (from S.Longstaff was it?) from inside their own box to allow Bentaleb’s shot. And Joelinton simply walking to the edge of the box and getting a shot off in the build-up to his goal.

I have a feeling we will see a lot of goals in the coming games.
