Report – Newcastle Once Again Reported To Be In The Race For Top Director

In late May, there was a claim from France that former PSG Sporting Director Antero Henrique was on the shortlist to become Newcastle’s new Sporting Director should the prospective new owners pass the Premier League’s fitness tests.

It’s now been two weeks since that report, and we still have heard precious little from the league on the state of Newcastle’s sale to the Amanda Staveley-led consortium.

However, Henrique’s name has surfaced once again in conjunction with Newcastle’s takeover. Sport Witness is citing claims from the French outlet RMCSport that Henrique has been contacted by our prospective new ownership group about a role at St James Park.

The 52-year-old Henrique (pictured above) left Paris Saint-Germain last June after two successful years as the club’s Sporting Director. He had previously spent a decade in a similar role in his native Portugal with Porto.

Since leaving PSG, Henrique has been linked with Manchester United. However, the RMCSport claims that he could be tempted to come to Tyneside.

The report says that the potential new owners have spoken to Henrique about becoming Newcastle’s new transfer guru, a role he has had success with at both PSG and Porto.

This all sounds outstanding to us. However, we need to get this takeover approved before any of these enticing new additions being targeted can start to arrive.

    There are no red flags.
The league has been so busy with the restart of the season they have not even looked at the takeover.
The league starts in mid June so I am expecting a decision at the end of July or early August.
Enough time to buy Coutinho and bale and a couple other useful players, the long staffs will struggle to get on the bench. Toast

Aye, trying to remember from years ago can stretch the old grey matter but it’s always better over a few drinks. I’d imagine you and Hibbit could spend a happy hour or so chewing the fat. Maybe when the takeover’s completed.

The Ship, famous for being run, in the mid sixties, by one of Mrs Smiths five little boys.

The Five Smith Brothers were locally based but nationally known recording artists eg “When It’s Evening” 1947 and “I’m in Favor of Friendship” 1955. Closed for a while, it is now a Premier general dealers shop

Yeah he does look good! I suppose if you were to look at Jacob Murphy’s highlights for Norwich they would be similar mind you…..

Would like to see us sign a player like him he seems to have everything to make the step up by the looks of things

    @Ctommo

I always wondered if we should have signed him and loaned him back to Norwich for one more season just to give him that one more season of experience

Always looked totally scared on the pitch playing for Newcastle is a different beast than playing for someone like Norwich in terms of expectation

He looked petrified playing for us. At least Eze looks like he’s got a bit of arrogance and confidence about him. I’d love to see players like that signed.

Unfortunately, Jane has spoken to him and he says he won’t leave London…

Had another look at Eze on Youtube, he has got the lot, think he would be a great no10 for us.
Doubt he would cost that much saying as he only has 1yr left on his contract.

Id have Eze as the understudy to Miggy as our 10, ease him into the PL, could come in and move miggy wider when needed too.

will be a few teams after him for sure this summer, hopefully the takeover and Jamie will see us get there.

then push our way in for Bellingham too.

    Yep
If he dont sell before the next game he wont ever
The PR will say they are waiting to see if we stay in the league
Then at the end of the season it will go quiet with probably more BS about another bidder
Right up until about 2 weeks before the transfer window closes

Got to say, if this takeover does fail, we are screwed. Zero investment from Fatty will end up in one outcome, and we wont come straight back up like we have done in the past.
But lets see what happens next week first.
