In May, a report surfaced claiming that Newcastle were tracking highly-rated FC Nordsjaelland youngster Mohammed Kudus. The 19-year-old attacker is destined to leave the Danish club this summer with many interested parties tracking the attacker.
Kudus is already a full Ghanaian international who has exploded onto the scene this past year with 9 goals in 19 appearances in the Danish Superliga.
According to the outlet TodoFichajes, Newcastle are after another young player of Ghanaian descent in Anderlecht winger Jeremy Doku. The 18-year-old has dual citizenship with Belgium and Ghana. He has so far represented Belgium up to the U21 level.
Doku, pictured above, broke into the Anderlecht first team last season, making 5 appearances in the Jupiler Pro League. This season he’s emerged as a regular making 21 appearances, 14 of which were starts, in the Belgian top flight.
The winger has scored 3 goals and provided 3 assists this past season despite not turning 18 until May, which is well after the season was canceled due to the coronavirus.
According to the Ghana site Kickgh.com, Doku’s father claims he turned down a move to Liverpool to remain in Belgium.
The outlet also claims that the youngster is in discussions with the Ghana FA to switch his allegiance to the Ghana national team.
Doku has plenty of admirers in Liverpool, Dortmund, Marseille, and Galatasaray. He would be an excellent acquisition for Newcastle to foster into a potential superstar.
