Report – Newcastle Linked With Another Napoli Star

Since the news that Mike Ashley had reached an agreement to sell Newcastle United to a wealthy Saudi-backed consortium, the links to world-class players have been endless.

One club’s players who seem to come up quite often is Serie A’s Napoli. Thus far, we’ve been linked with Kalidou Koulibaly, Allan, Dries Mertens, and Hirving Lozano from the Italian club.

According to Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport, you can add striker Arkadiusz Milik to that list.

Inside Futbol have a report citing claims from the Italian outlet that Newcastle are one of several clubs interested in the Polish international.

Arkadiusz Milik– Polish international on Newcastle’s radar

The 26-year-old is entering the final year of his contract with Napoli but has failed to agree on terms for an extension. However, Napoli still reportedly will not let Milik leave for anything less than there £45m valuation of him.

Both Juventus and Arsenal have recently been linked with the Pole. According to the report from Italy, Atletico Madrid and Bayer Leverkusen are also keen.

Milik spent two seasons at Leverkusen from 2013 to 2015 before moving to Dutch giants Ajax. It was from Ajax that Milik made the jump to Napoli in 2016 for around £27m.

Milik’s scoring record in Italy is very impressive. He’s scored 46 in just 109 appearances over the past four years.

There lies one of the problems with the striker – his poor injury record. He’s had two serious knee injuries as well as a myriad of other niggles throughout his career.

The 26-year-old, however, strikes us as a realistic target if Newcastle are finally sold. However, there’s no way he’s going to go for £45m with just one year remaining on his contract.

Also, with both Arsenal and Juventus very keen on his service, it might be hard to tempt the Pole to Tyneside.

Though he could be one to keep an eye on, once we get our new ownership group on board.

History of knee problems and missed about half of his club’s games over the last 2 seasons. Sounds like a great replacement for Big Andy 😉

could the club not communicate on the matter of season ticket refunds
even if it was just to say there will be an announcement shortly

i am sure both sides would agree to break the nda if there is one covering this sort of thing

All these stories about supposed transfer targets are an absolute joke when we don’t even know who is going to own us yet next season. Give it a rest man.

    Long time no post…

Hilarious reading the daily guesswork on the takeover. Virtually every media publication so far has claimed inside information that would lead to the takeover being completed on [insert date here]. It’s almost as if they’re all guessing so they can claim they had the inside scoop if they get it right…hmmm…

It’s not though is it KV, it smacks or narcissism, “I have THIS to say and you MUST listen to me”, also of insecurity and a desire to be liked/acknowledged/replied to, so crying out for attention too.

    Stick to the footy eh?

    Jib,

In what way are ST holders contracting with a new party? The “contract” in question is already agreed and is legally binding. Once a contract is agreed, there are no further ongoing negotiations between contractees. The club offered a service, and that service has been sold in the form of season tickets. That is a “done deal” at this point.

The current owners should be obliged to fulfill the terms of that contract or offer suitable compensation, as they are the ones who offered that service to begin with. The club is not sold yet and Charnley is still listed as the director, so I really don’t see how anyone other than the current owners could be held responsible for any refunds due.

The Fyten – it’s not as if Staveley is the delay so that seems like a red herring to me. It’s been in the hands of the PL and their lawyers for weeks and weeks now. They’re probably busy due to covid-19 related stuff but it’s also been extremely complicated.

The fact is that if they’d found enough reason to deny the takeover, that would have happened already. So it must still be processing.

    DubaiMicky,

Erm no mate, I just wanted to continue the discussion I was having. I specifically mentioned it was a repost so that anyone who had already read it would know and could just skip over it. I was actually talking about footy too so no idea what that comment was supposed to be about?

Refunds…why is anyone surprised by this? There are many reasons that this won’t be happening yet, such as:
    – it not being part of the contract so the refunds would come out of Fat Mike’s pocket (no chance!)
    – the new owners wanting to do this when they take over to help build the connection with the fans
    – other legal stuff related to the takeover
    – Ashley is just a selfish &£^#

    From earlier.

    For 3 months?

I can’t see any reason ST money DD couldnt have been stopped.

If theres a freeze on a bank account how do they still receive money from DD and pay wages to players and staff?

I bet my life Ashley managed to cancel the staffs wages when furloughed, shame he didn’t have time for DD

Because it’s affected by contract law and the ST holders are effectively contracting with a new party
Jeez this is footing hard work”

No jib. They aren’t. All interests (assets, liabilities / charges / company cat) of a limited company would continue unabated under transfer of ownership and deletion / appointment of directors would have no effect whatsoever on the business which would run as usual. Just stop.

And transfers…yeah, the journos are just bored. No way have there been significant transfer discussions when there’s no idea who the owners are going to be next week, no idea who the manager will be next season, no idea what the budgets are, no idea what league we’ll be in next season, no idea who the MD will be in a few weeks, no idea if there will be a DoF…etc. etc.

And it’s not as if scouts can be doing much at the moment either. It’s all just paper and agency talk for now.

Let’s just put this to bed. None of the ” takeover” shananigans would have any effect on the continuing running of the business. Direct debits would continue to be clawed into greedy little bank accounts. Tax, rates, utility and maintenance bills would still begrudgingly be paid, as late as possible but paid nonetheless, to those owed. Staff would be paid. Shirts and bedspreads still hawked in the club shop when open of course. Nufctv subscriptions still expected. All running just as normal and seamlessly transferred into the loving hands of the new owners.

Just putting it out there so no abuse please. A friend of wor kid who has dealings with Ashley has heard that Ashley isn’t in any way surprised or concerned with the delay. His comment was along the lines of , ‘ PL have got to be seen to be thorough with this but a knock back was never an option. ‘
I’m confident once again that this is close to a conclusion and we’ll be seeing the back of Sheikh Mealy very soon.
