Since the news that Mike Ashley had reached an agreement to sell Newcastle United to a wealthy Saudi-backed consortium, the links to world-class players have been endless.
One club’s players who seem to come up quite often is Serie A’s Napoli. Thus far, we’ve been linked with Kalidou Koulibaly, Allan, Dries Mertens, and Hirving Lozano from the Italian club.
According to Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport, you can add striker Arkadiusz Milik to that list.
Inside Futbol have a report citing claims from the Italian outlet that Newcastle are one of several clubs interested in the Polish international.
Arkadiusz Milik– Polish international on Newcastle’s radar
The 26-year-old is entering the final year of his contract with Napoli but has failed to agree on terms for an extension. However, Napoli still reportedly will not let Milik leave for anything less than there £45m valuation of him.
Both Juventus and Arsenal have recently been linked with the Pole. According to the report from Italy, Atletico Madrid and Bayer Leverkusen are also keen.
Milik spent two seasons at Leverkusen from 2013 to 2015 before moving to Dutch giants Ajax. It was from Ajax that Milik made the jump to Napoli in 2016 for around £27m.
Milik’s scoring record in Italy is very impressive. He’s scored 46 in just 109 appearances over the past four years.
There lies one of the problems with the striker – his poor injury record. He’s had two serious knee injuries as well as a myriad of other niggles throughout his career.
The 26-year-old, however, strikes us as a realistic target if Newcastle are finally sold. However, there’s no way he’s going to go for £45m with just one year remaining on his contract.
Also, with both Arsenal and Juventus very keen on his service, it might be hard to tempt the Pole to Tyneside.
Though he could be one to keep an eye on, once we get our new ownership group on board.

I would have thought the fact it was posted would infer
nothing has happened and despite rumours no deal has
been done

Comment #82The Athletic reporter was asked by one fan why there has been such a delay in the Premier League’s decision on the takeover bid from Amanda Staveley’s Saudi-backed consortium.
Caulkin responded and claimed that Project Restart was a ‘big outside factor’ and that the consortium was still answering ‘questions on piracy last week’.
However, Caulkin believes that the ‘bulk’ of the checks have been done, but the decision has to be ‘as watertight as humanly possible’.
The deal for Mike Ashley to sell the Toon to this Saudi-backed consortium was agreed in April, and a deposit was paid to Ashley.
However, since then, there has been no announcement on the deal.
Caulkin though seems to feel that the checks are nearly done, and maybe the Premier League’s decision is edging closer.
TIF Thoughts…
This whole Newcastle takeover has gone on for a long time, and Richard Masters’ comments on Sky Sports hardly suggest that there is any imminent decision as he claimed that the process has no timescale.
Despite this, though, Caulkin seems to feel like most of the work has been done, which is a positive sign.
Project Restart is not the only cause of delay with the World Trade Organisation’s report linking the Saudi government with piracy station BeoutQ, also slowing down the Premier League’s process.
As well as this, the complaints made by BeIN Sports and Amnesty International all could have slowed down the Premier League’s decision.
However, we hope that Caulkin’s tweet signals the beginning of the end of this long-drawn-out process.

Comment #84Haha I just thought I’d log on and confirm there’s nothing doing at NUFC and, lo and behold, Jib is defending the regime again.
The question is, will he be in a job when the odious twat is gone!

Comment #87Re Covid, our Chief Medical Officer over here said we are “only half way through it”, despite only 9 new cases today. By half way, he means have way through the time line of getting back to “normal”. So for people saying Covid is over, like CDog, it ain’t. I wonder when stadia will be half full / full again? I presume when we get Hanks and those Vatican chaps behind bars? 🙂

Comment #94IMO there is no doubt that some journo’s will have reliable info.
The PL will have to communicate with parties making objections and with the consortium to request further info etc.,and no doubt NUFC will need to be kept updated.
To believe that absolutely no info has been passed on to favoured journo’s – like possibly Caulkin – by the consortium or NUFC is naive.

Comment #95Apparently Young Eze is getting a lot of attention from PL clubs, West Ham & Spurs the latest, apparently.
These are just rumours as per usual, we have been linked with him because of Jamie Reuben, but if it was a 3 horse race between ourselves and the 2 London clubs my guess he would opt for Spurs, no upheaval for the young lad.

Comment #101To think a journalist is being kept up to date on a multi million pound deal with NDAs in place is laughable
Of course a buyers going to risk a deal just so a journo is in the loop, ho ho ho.
