Villa are set up in the same way as we would be under the consortium. They are owned by a joint venture company which is owned by limited companies each owned by the two people/organisations credited with the majority shareholding of the club – Sawaris and Edens.

We’re going to stray into the world of politics here but I would point out that the US government and UN generally does just about all it can to deny the legitimacy of any potential non-capitalist state. Wars in Korea, Vietnam, countless instances of funding coups in South America, all in the interests of keeping capitalism on top. Maybe there’s a hint in there as to which countries are the most corrupt…

I dug a little more and you’re absolitely right. Sincere apologies for wasting so much of your time on that one, still can’t say I fully understand the benefits of doing things that way but I’ve never taken a keen interest in this side of business before and it seemed very counter-intuitive at first glance.

Corruption spans all governance structures, all political ideologies and the international bodies are not exempt. I will leave it there as this is straying away from football and anything related to takeover.

No apologies necessary mate. We are all looking for something hidden in all this, or a meaning behind stuff, but I don’t think there is much to find. I think we know as much as each other, but we all draw different conclusions from each depending on our pre conceived notions, and until we get a firm yes or no, then we will all keep searching, hoping, despairing etc.

Comment #126Looking at the info NY Mag has put on here re Companies House, i cant see how it relates to Barclay,s court case.
The Registration Of Charge entry on 9th April involves PCP and ST JAMES HOLDINGS, its there in black&white, excuse the pun.

Comment #128Before I go to bed,
WL,
If you look at the section marked “definitions” on the page that is numbered 1 on the document (it’s page 5 on the pdf) under where it says “claims”, it mentions the case between Staveley and Barclays. I’ll be honest with you, I then skipped the bulk of the rest of it (which seemed like it was just explaining definitions and terms) and went to the letter at the bottom of the document. It appears to relate to a £13m loan from Ashley (via St James Holdings) to Staveley, who is described as “the claimant”.
I can’t see why any of this would be mentioned if it weren’t specifically related to Staveley’s court case. Maybe Ashley saw an investment opportunity in the old tyre-kicker? I certainly don’t see any mention of a takeover.

Comment #130I’m pretty much resigned to the fact there’s not going to be any news either way until the PL can say they’ve looked at that WTO report.

From earlier………you referenced Schrodingers cat in relation to the takeover. You sound like a very knowledgeable fellow, I on the other hand not so much.
The only reason I have heard of Schrodingers Cat is due to my wife & kids loving the Big Bang Theory series; it is mentioned on there several times.
From what I have taken from a tv series, the theory suggests that a thing is in a superposition of two mutually contradicting states – either good or bad – and we will never know unless we open the box to find out.
So I assume you are saying that the takeover is either good or bad but at present we do not know?

Comment #132Jail, sounds about right but there always seems to be another thing that is preventing the takeover from happening or being announced.
Losing faith again now so best to sit back and keep a watching brief………..

To be honest I’m not listening to any of the new stories The Mirror or Telegraph are publishing or listening to the many ITK’s on twitter. There’s a report due on the 16/17th and it would be negligent if the PL made a decision before having actually read it. Even if they’ve already made up their minds they’ve surely got to know what’s in the report to justify their decision either way.

Comment #135Just seen all the fixtures for GW33 around the fourth of July are all on the Saturday and no tv, I’m assuming when it’s sorted out who’s got what, they’ll be shown over the Friday till Monday.

Sounds sensible – both your approach and ref the report.
I don’t read newspapers at present and I have also taken myself off Twitter as it is a platform for people to try and become famous and or outrageous.
Get all of my news from the sane people on this blog 🙂

Comment #138“Stoke were forced to cancel a friendly against Manchester United at the last minute after learning that manager, Michael O’Neill, had tested positive for coronavirus.

Comment #139Jail I said same once june1 had passed. Although I read somewhere that the outcome of the WTO report is known, the prem league will want to be seen to play safe on this. I’m beginning to get a bit concerned. The piracy issue may not be put to bed for quite some time.

Comment #140I don’t know why we are hoping that because there is saudi involvement in man utd, that that means its hypocritical to question why that was allowed. Two massively different issues. Believe me, if PIF dropped us and went for man u, they wud face the same shiit storm from everyone and a lot more.

I’d assume that if the WTO had issued a draft off its report, then both Saudi Arabia and Qatar would, as directly affected parties (DAPs) have been issued with a copy to enable them to make any representations in regard to its content. That enables any DAPs to comment on what they see as inaccuracies.
If WTO do issue its report drafts prior to final publication and Saudi has commented, it’s possible it is fairly relaxed about its content and its impact on any potential takeover being approved. Were it not confident of EPL approval, PIF would surely have aborted its interest in NUFC thus avoiding any public embarrassment.
Just a thought but all we can do is wait.

Comment #142Jail: I read yesterday report due on 17th,not sure if the PL will have read it before it becomes public mind.
Hopefully all is well with that, and we get the long awaited green light.
As for so called press,
I stopped reading the Dandy,Beano,Tiger and Hurricane, and the one with Billy’s boots in, even Oor Wullie, and the Broons. The chronicle, sun, mirror, contents to me is fake news, and not half as entertaining as any of them comics.
What happened to that saying “Liars never prosper” if that runs true then there will be no news papers soon.
At least George Caulkin remains news worthy ( IMO )
