It seems like Newcastle have been linked with several new targets every single day over the past few months. They range from obscure youngsters like Facundo Pellistri to world-renowned superstars like Edinson Cavani.
Today is no different as several reports from the Netherlands and Belgium (Voetbalkrant, Walfoot claim that Newcastle are after Standard Liege midfielder Selim Amallah.
The 23-year-old joined the Belgian side this past summer for just over £1m from Mouscron. He’s had a magnificent first season in Liege scoring 9 and assisting on 4 in his 32 overall appearances.
Selim Amallah– Newcastle are tracking the young Moroccan
Amallah is an attacking midfielder who can also do damage from the left-wing. He was born in Belgium but made his international debut for Morocco in November.
The attacker still has three years remaining on the contract he signed when he jumped to Standard Liege last July. Though, he likely could be brought in at a bargain price.
Both Valencia and Schalke are credited with an interest in the midfielder, but both reports name Newcastle as being the most interested.
Amallah strikes us as the type of target Newcastle would pursue this summer if Mike Ashley is still at the helm, which we hope won’t be the case. He’s an under the radar type of player who would be a bit of an unknown commodity in the Premier League.
He may eventually make the jump to one of Europe’s preeminent leagues and prove to be a success. However, we don’t think he will be a prime target under our prospective new owners.

People ought to be more sensitive – there are times when there is not enough big stone ball work to go round, and an archaeologist has to do what an archaeologist has to do.

Comment #17Don’t expect ANY signings if Ashley is still in charge next season and the takeover fails. He has had his fingers burned financially with both his businesses and the club and if he is still here against his will (if that is true of course) he certainly won’t be in any mood to buy new players.
We can only hope that Amanda is brightening up our lives in the next few weeks whilst standing in the centre circle with a black and white scarf round her neck.
