The Guardian is reporting that proposed Newcastle target Ryan Fraser has rejected Bournemouth’s short-term contract extension and will become a free agent on July 1st.
Bournemouth weren’t going to be able to keep their star winger beyond this season, with him being in the final year of his contract. However, it’s a massive blow to their survival hopes that he has refused to remain at the club for the remainder of this season.
The Cherries are currently in the final relegation place on 27 points with a goal difference of -18. They are level on points with Watford, who are one spot above them due to a superior goal difference.
The Athletic’s Chris Waugh reported in April that Newcastle were interested in the 26-year-old should he become a free agent. That claim was also backed up by a report last month.
The Guardian is also reporting that Newcastle are one of the clubs looking to sign Fraser this summer. However, both Arsenal and Tottenham are no longer thought to be pursuing the winger.
This leaves Newcastle, Crystal Palace, and Watford as the primary interested parties. With Fraser rejecting the extension, he’ll be free to join on July 1st.
However, with the Premier League rejecting calls to alter the 25-man squads submitted after the winter transfer window, he’ll not be available to play until next season.
Of course, Newcastle are unlikely to make any moves until the ongoing takeover saga comes to a conclusion. Hopefully, it’ll be a celebratory one for Magpie fans.

Comment #47Job- it is. No other league is as unpredictable and packed with world class talent. Bundesliga is always Bayern Campions, in Spain either Barça or Madrid, in Italy Juventus etc. No real competition. The EPL is different and direct in their play. Exciting. The best in the world.

Comment #55Does anyone think that technology failed, cos he had the ball shoved against the post?
The post is the line.
Scratch that just watched it again,it was at least a foot ower before he rammed it against the post.
The ref had better have his changing room door bolted.

Comment #61I think something like that just shows the linesman just don’t care about it now that VAR/goal line technology has been brought in. That’s scandalous not to have seen that when he’s completely in line with it.

Comment #63Goal line technology can’t be working as the always show a simulation after showing the ball position and centimetres over the line.
Less than 45 mins and already an error!

Comment #68… ‘they’re selling postcards of the hanging’ was mentioned earlier.
That was the opening line to Bob Dylan’s song ‘Desolation Row’
Dylan was very young when the actual Lynching took place in Duluth, Min..
‘Strange Fruit’ was a Billie Holiday song that referenced a non-specific Lynching, quite a few years earlier..

Comment #69Ffs that is clearly a goal for Sheffield Utd! It passed the bloody line just watch the replays and allow it if it’s clewr as day! Where is VAR there then?? Ridiculous officiating again. Have to protect the ‘big clubs’. Can’t have Sheffield Utd upsetting them and challenging for europe ahead of Man Ure and Spurs. Disgusting if they don’t give them the goal.

Comment #71Bought the Now tv mobile pass for £5.99 – wow it’s weird having no crowd noise!
Defo a goal – I think they didn’t show the goal line decision because it was wrong. Complacency from the ref & linesman waiting for the watch to vibrate.
Maybe a slow start for everyone.

I’d heard we were using it but thought it was strange we hadn’t seen it, basically someone hasn’t switched the machine on or the Ref never switched his watch on. A classic example of computer says no!
