The Chronicle is reporting a total of six Magpies have or will extend their contracts to the end of the season.
It had already been confirmed that loan lads Valentino Lazaro and Danny Rose will remain at Newcastle.
There were also reports that Andy Carroll and Javier Manquillo had verbally agreed to extend their deals.
Now according to the Chronicle, Nabil Bentaleb’s loan move from Schalke has been extended. It also looks like Matty Longstaff will be staying at least until the end of this campaign.
Here is what Steve Bruce said about the loanees and out-of-contract players:
“All our lads, including the loan players and out-of-contract players, have verbally agreed to stay on and play to the end of the season, which is obviously a good thing.
“With the out-of-contract players, the club are in discussion with them at the moment.
“There’s been a lot of dialogue with the Premier League and what we’re going to do with out-of-contract players, and what they decided to do was grant an extension to the end of the season.”
Steve Bruce gave his press conference this morning for Sunday’s match against Sheffield United via Zoom.
He confirmed that four players are struggling with minor knocks. They are Sean and Matty Longstaff, Matt Ritchie, and Dwight Gayle.
SB: “The two Longstaffs are there or thereabouts in terms of availability. We hope after the weekend they could be involved. There’s a doubt about Matt Ritchie and Dwight Gayle has picked up a knock on his knee so there is one or two niggles.” pic.twitter.com/m85Rw1mzmz
