One Transfer Already Wrapped Up – But Consortium Continues To Wait For Takeover Approval

Newcastle United’s long drawn out acquisition has made things extremely difficult for the Head of Recruitment, Steve Nickson, at Newcastle.

While last year things were complicated because we didn’t know who the manager would be, this season is almost as confusing, because we still don’t know who the owners will be for next season.

There’s an update in the Chronicle today on the takeover, but nothing much new is in the report.

The takeover decision is expected any day now, but we were saying that four or five weeks ago.

The good news in the same report is the would-be owners have already arranged one transfer deal, and they are awaiting for Premier League approval and the opening of the transfer window to complete the deal.

We have no idea who that player is, but, as usual, we’ve been linked with a lot of players over the last several weeks.

But we respect the players that come in this summer to have some class, as the new owners try to improve the quality of the squad for next season.

Richard Masters – CEO of Premier League

They will not be throwing their money around like Manchester City, and Chelsea did when they were acquired some years ago, but will invest wisely in the squad.

They will allocate about £200M to new players and the infrastructure of the club over the next three years.

And because we have made a profit over the last two seasons, the Financial Fair Play rules should not be a problem.

The Chronicle reports that a lot of the groundwork for this summer’s transfer window has already been done, but it’s got to be awkward without knowing who the new owners are.

Hopefully, the Premier League will show some guts from somewhere and announce their decision soon.

Let’s hope it’s the right decision.

It’s been over 10 weeks since Alanda Stavley presented to takeover documents to the Premier League back on April 9th.

But the Premier League seems to be frozen in time and still unwilling to announce their decision.

They look weak and indecisive.

To be a top manager or executive, it’s times like these, when either decision will be heavily criticized that you have to show some real courage and guts.

Morning Toon22, seems we have been here before, or at the very least similar, i am more upbeat this one though, and at least it has given us lots to talk about in the football vacuum.
Almost like a perfectly planned distraction

    Northumbrian, from previous

By the time we play City in the cup we could be safe, we only need 4 points imo.

I agree 4 points will keep us up, but we are surely aspiring for higher than 17-13th, if we can play well utilise our speed in attack further up the pitch we could maybe go up rather than down….oooh theres another straw, il clutch that one too

“With the takeover, and I’ve only been here 12 months, I think everybody is a bit bored with it, aren’t they?”

“We’ve heard it all before. It seems to drag on.”

I think we have enough points as it stands but 4 points would make it for sure.

If we start with a win tomorrow hopefully give the lads the confidence to kick on and play freely aiming for a high finish

I`m not saying all i want is 4 points, i was saying to Northumbrian that by the time we play Man C in the cup we might be safe so, if, like i suggested, we would win one of the 2 games against them, then my preference would be the cup game.
I think we will finish around 13th, where we are now.

The club accounts are made up to 30th of June every year
So 1st July could be the obvious date it also is the Wednesday
we play Bournemouth away so the players nicely out of the way
    of any crowds.

Id say our best chance of staying in the league is the teams below us not getting points
As we usually are slow starters in the league and we have the master tactician in cabbage heed
Along with the fact we replaced players who were getting goals with ones that arnt

These things wont just magically disappear with a bunch of wishful thinking

4 points will see us safe, hopefully fingers crossed this will be the last season our goal at the start of every season is to reach 40 points or be mathematically safe then breathe a sye of relief.
I really hope the announcement is this week,it should go through and would of if it had been any of the so-called big 6 as its NUFC political crusaders have tried to put their two penneth in constantly. Fingers crossed for good news and cans
