Alan Shearer Gives His Reaction To Great Display And Terrific Result

After about ten minutes of this game today, it was clear that Newcastle were the better side.

But it was still 0-0 at the break and then in the second half Egan was sent off and it was only five minutes later that Newcastle went ahead with a goal from Saint-Maximin – his second in the last two games, and more than three months apart.

The Blades defense seemed all at sea this afternoon, and Newcastle took command.

After 69 minutes Matt Richie scored our second to put the game to bed with a wonderful thunderbolt from the edge of the area.

But then the news of the game really, was the Joelinton scored only his second league goal of the season and his 4th for Newcastle in all competitions – to make it 3-0 after 78 minutes.

So that’s a load off the lad’s back and it’s got to be a relief for the Brazilian forward.

He was set up by the energetic Miguel Almiron.

This was a very good performance from Newcastle and it will not hurt Steve Bruce’s chances to be given an opportunity to be the manager of Newcastle for next season.

Now we have to keep it up and take all 3 points against Aston Villa on Wednesday and we could be safe in the league.

And that’s the double over the Blades who we beat 2-0 at Bramall Lane earlier this season.

We now have 38 points from 30 games.

The great Alan Shearer (shown above) gave his opinion of the win this afternoon.

Football felt brilliant coming back this week but you didn’t realise how good it felt until your own team gets a great win on there first game back.

    Feels absolutely great right now

Great win did not expect as I thought they would be up to match speed- how wrong could I be?
First 15 minutes looked second best chasing shadows but once we got our foot in the game there was only one team going to win.
Thought the front three played well ran their defence ragged with their speed and movement,
Ritchie had a good game if not a bit rusty. Hayden and Lascslles infant all the players had a decent game.
Should be safe now as a lot of the teams below us have to play the top 6 and each other.
Bring on Villa and let Andy Carroll loose bound to score against his favourite club

My MOTM is Allan Saint-Max. Wonderful player. Possibly the most exciting player in the whole of the Premier League. A special mention should go to the person who recruited him as other managers must be very envious of us having such a gifted player.

A special mention to whoever is our fitness coach as the team looked in tip top condition, especially Rose.

A win against Villa and we are safe.

    Certainly does Mund.

On the voting thing, could we not change the format Ed/Neil, to let us vote for every player? Sometimes it’s impossible to pick just one.

It’s obvious that St Max will walk this, but there were so many good performances all round, that we should be able to score each performance. Fernandez was superb at the back, but won’t get many votes due to St Max’s stand out show up front.

Hi guys, this is my first post. I have just watched a great game from St. James’ on tv. A great win for the lads. I have been watching Newcastle since 1951 and have never been so embarrassed seeing what the FCB has done today. Every other home team have put very normal covers over the first rows of seats but not Newcastle. Mr. Ashley would think it more important to advertise his awful tat shops around the whole of the ground. The man is a complete disgrace and the sooner he shoves off with his tatty signs the better.

I voted for Hayden our unsung hero. Winning the ball back in midfield all game.
