In what was thought to be a difficult game yesterday against 7th placed Sheffield United, we won 3-0 going away.
The Blades were reduced to 10 men just after the break when John Egan was sent off, but few would say Newcastle didn’t deserve all 3 points yesterday.
We are now 11 points above the drop zone with 8 games to play, and we seem to be well-positioned to climb even further up the league table in the final 8 games of the season, which will be played before the end of next month.
The lads looked fit and well-organized yesterday, and we scored 3 goals, which in itself was a surprise.
Next up for the lads are Aston Villa, who are second-bottom on 26 points, 12 points behind Newcastle.
Another 3 points in the game on Wednesday at home will undoubtedly mean we are safe for the season.
Joelinton scores after 78 minutes yesterday against the Blades
But nothing is ever certain in the Premier League, and we should not expect this game to be as easy as it may look on paper.
Villa have some excellent players, and they are also fighting for their lives to stay in the wealthy Premier League.
But if we can get the win, we will be on 41 points from 31 games, and that would be really great.
Here’s how we stand at the moment with Burnley to play at Manchester City today.
Notice we are just 2 points behind the Gunners and 10th place.
Howay The Lads!!
