The games will come quickly now because the Premier League has restarted, and we got off to a great start on Sunday with a tremendous 3-0 win at home against Sheffield United.
The lads are at home again tomorrow, when we play second-bottom club Aston Villa, who sacked Newcastle manager in early October of 2018, one day after a spectator had thrown a cabbage at him.
It followed a 3-3 home draw against bottom club Preston.
Villa are now in danger of being relegated, after only just returning this season to the Premier League, where they really belong.
Every game in the Premier League seems to be tough, so this will not be an easy game.
But Newcastle looked a good team on Sunday, and players will be trying to impress the would-be new owners and stay on board for Newcastle’s revival as a great team.
Steve Bruce (shown above earlier this season) is starting to get some plaudits from the fans for the job he has done this season – he has enabled the takeover – is wary of his former club.
He has reviewed the situation in his press conference today: here is some of what he has said, as reported in the Chronicle:
“It’s always good to get off to a good start. It’s been a long time so well done to all my staff and the players because they looked in good nick.”
“But it is totally strange playing in an empty SJP.”
“Without supporters, it’s not the same.”
“Any team (Aston Villa) at the bottom will be looking to put back-to-back wins together.”
“I’m expecting a difficult game as they have some very good players, they took the lead against Chelsea and they have McGinn and Grealish, two very good players.”
“But we’re confident”
“We’ve given ourselves a really, really decent platform but fair play to everyone concerned.”
“It’s vitally important we keep focused and finish the season strongly which we’re looking to do.”
Those are appropriate comments from the Newcastel manager.
We should win this game, but with Newcastle – you just never know.
Another win would be fantastic

We’ve had Companies House documents before mate. Nothing on there is “proof”. It’s a confidential process and publishing proof would violate that confidentiality.

Comment #44Good morning lads n lasses, not long to wait now hopefully, seems to be a lot of positive vies this morning re takeover.
Looks like the news i heard last night about Bein Sport not showing Serie A is true , seen a couple of the links put on here.
It all seems to be falling into place now, too many coincidences if you know what i mean.

Comment #48For f**k sake give Bruce a break
Done a bloody good job without top scorers Perez and Rondon 20 goals last season
Got us to a cup quarter final
And a bit of excitement from Maxi who If Rafa was here I doubt Maxi would of played as he would be to much of a loose cannon.

Comment #50Ledge, i just felt we should give Bruce a chance, seeing as we were stuck with him. He has never managed a more talented group of players , so in some ways its a test to see how older english managers do, when given better resources. He’s done ok, and improving by the look of it.

Sounds a lot like another one of Ashley’s PR tricks to me. He gave away season tickets to keep us on side when the last takeover fell apart, now he’s probably giving away free passes to watch the games to smooth over the discontent after their inaction over the season ticket refunds this time out.
Until there is a decision and an announcement, he will still be looking at the club as his business and looking to maximise profits and keep customers coming back for more.

Someone had the opinion since that first email came out was when we got took over. Could well of been or maybe just pressure from all the bad media the club was getting about the refunds.

Comment #62All the talk about Bruce and the job. He has done so much better than I expected, football not great, but he has done well and should be giving credit. I would like to see him keep a role and as been said, the U23 job might be just right for him. Only way he could stay in charge is a brilliant Director of Football and him working under that person. But I reckon new manager and hope Bruce gets a role somewhere

The free season tickets didnt cost Ashley anything, zero cost and would get some income from drinks, food etc.
Are the BT tickets free? If it is sent to all season ticket holders, how many thousand passes is that? I dont believe that would be free from BT. Buying passes for BT does cost the club something and will get nothing in return. Thats not an Ashley thing to do.
I havent looked into this in detail and am not a season ticket holder so havent see the actual email..

Getting Bruce in for u23s wouldn’t be a bad shout you know. Most of the reports have said the prospective new owners think there is “still a rooe for Bruce at the club” but haven’t necessarily said what that role is. He might be insulted by the offer but I’d like to think if he’s a true fan he would swallow his pride and continue to help the club grow if he had a chance, even if it wasn’t in his preferred role.
I don’t think we’ll ever grow significantly under Bruce’s management, so I think whatever happens we need to put pressure on to have him replaced, and if we get bought out by the Saudis or somebody with equivalent wealth and ambition I think a change is almost inevitable. If not, we might struggle to attract better given MA’s reputation for mistreating staff and failing to back managers with a decent budget.

think the free tv passes were for SKY only, no mention of BT included in the below offer so dont see BT allowing thousands of people to watch for free without Newcastle picking up the bill.

PR is a massive part of any business. Did buying Joelinton make us a profit? Ashley sanctioned the sale to appease the fans with a new record signing. He knew we were angry with the lack of investment so he spent some money to keep us on side. He’s playing the long game and sometimes that means spending money to make money. Offering perks like free passes to watch games means more people are likely to renew.
I’d be much more surprised if it was the Saudis giving away free tickets to the fans before anyone even knows they own the team. That doesn’t benefit them in any way whatsoever.
