There seems to be a feel-good feeling at Newcastle United.
We have won our last two league games – admittedly more than three months apart because of the coronavirus pandemic.
And Steve Bruce is upbeat, even though he may be losing his job if the Amanda Staveley consortium is successful in buying Newcastle United, which now seems almost certain.
But Steve is a Geordie, and he has often said what’s good for Newcastle is good for him, and he’s gaining the trust and some admiration from Geordie fans.
That’s even when the odds are that Newcastle will have a new manager for next season.
Steve wants to make the most of it while he is the Magpies manager and certainly last Sunday we saw a good-looking attacking side who beat Sheffield United 3-0.
There is also the upbeat feeling the Newcastle takeover will finally be approved as the Saudi government seems to be stepping up to the plate on things like Intellectual Property protection.
This is what Steve (shown above earlier this season) has said today as reported in the Chronicle:
“All credit to the lads – it has not been easy for them.”
“We are in unprecedented times and certainly it’s a big well done to my staff, the medical department and the sports science department.”
“People have worked tirelessly to make sure the players are right physically and that was always a concern.”
“Have we over-cooked them or done enough?”
“But they looked very good and they surprised me what great condition they were in.”
We play Aston Villa at home today and while it’s a much easier game on paper than the Blades, it will still b tough.
It’s a tricky game for Newcastle, but with full concentration and the same desire the team showed on Sunday, we could win this game to make it three league wins in a row.
Howay The Lads!!
