Bruce – We Have A Decent Run Going – I’ve Been Very Pleased – We’ve Done OK

The lads have come back from their three-month break and have hit the ground running.

Four points from two games should have been 6 points, but we’ll take the 4 points, and we are now 12 points above the drop zone with 7 games to play.

We also have the 4th round of the FA Cup at home to Manchester City tomorrow night, so things have gone from nothing to full steam ahead as far as playing games is concerned.

Project Restart so far has been successful as long as we can keep the coronavirus infections down.

The league is due to end four weeks tomorrow, and Liverpool are the Champions of the Premier League for the first time in their history.

Hopefully, if Newcastle are acquired by the Amanda Staveley consortium, we can start making some inroads to become regularly part of the top six in the Premier League.

Here’s where we stand at the moment – still in 13th place despite those 4 points in the previous two games:

PosTeamGamesGDPoints
10Burnley38-754
11Southampton38-952
12Everton38-1249
13Newcastle38-2044
14Crystal Palace38-1943
15Brighton38-1541
16West Ham38-1339

Steve Bruce (shown above) seems very pleased with the way things are going as he had this today yesterday in his press conference:

What we have done in the last six or seven games has enabled us to be a bit more of a threat going forward.”

“Touch wood, defensively we have been rock solid, long may it continue.”

“It is important that we don’t think we have achieved something, and we don’t down tools.”

“We have put a decent little run together after lockdown and to get four points from six, which might have been six from six, had it not been a rare defensive lapse.”

“Overall, I’ve been very pleased with the way we are.

“We have one or two knocks, and we have to see how we are, on the quiet we have done OK.”

And here are the upcoming fixtures starting with with our tough FA Cup quarter-final tie at home tomorrow.

We’re definitely gonna go full strength tomorrow. And give city a great game. Hopefully we send that little cretin Sterling back to hole whence he came.

Bye bye villa! (Waving hand emoji) couldn’t happen to a nicer club.

No way Greylish is playing in the championship again after tasting the PL. I reckon hes exactly the player we will get. If they go down hes coming to us, and on his ability to get free kicks alone hes worth it.

WL, yes they pretty well had a monopoly of channel choice and Sports coverage, but in recent years, Free view/Free Sat, then BT, Amazon etc coming into sports have squeezed them, Covid -19 was a major hiccup. They need to get customers back now so deals are on!! 🙂

Once got all the way to Villa Pk,only to find the game was called off !

Don’t like Villa, all the way back to Ray Graydon and Andy Little, mouthing off what a big club they are.

    Respect

Got to say that Villa are pants, and Grealish ain`t nothing special imo, bit of a poser . So wish we had beat the the other night.
if Villa lose today then they can only get 45 points, no chance of them overtaking us.

Tom, don’t get conned by the “everything’s sorted” message on Covid-19, if your Good lady still has health issues, stay home mate, it hasn’t gone away, stay safe.

It’s all down to pressure from travel companies and airlines to save jobs and get economy going again, personally me and Mrs aren’t going anywhere until vaccine is available, wrong age to take risks. 🙂

WL toon COMMENT =87, its a plessure chatting with you, my name is Eamon, i come from Northern Ireland and ive supported Newcastle from i was 7 years old and iam 66 now, i just love Newcastle United and love the Geordie people they are the salt of the earth, and so open and friendly, quite like the Irish in many ways, i work as a driving instructor WL toon and have been off work also right from the start of the lockdown, i think we will possibly get the green light to offically start back to work in a few weeks, in reply to your question about the game tomorrow, well you never know in football you can get strange results sometimes so you never know, but its a big ask to beat a team like man city, my heart says Newcastle, but my head says City will probably win if iam being honest WL toon. I love watching Man City play, they move the ball around fabulously and their movement off the ball is so constant and clever, there’s always someone available, a joy to watch!

Having said that, I hope they lose tomorrow 😉

Sky have offers on most times, would be worth giving them a call as they dont always advertise…. I rang up 2yrs ago to tell them I thought we were paying too much (my son goes halves for nearly full package) and because I never missed a payment I was upgraded to vip… which I thought was was going to be a con but… I got upgraded to skyQ.. New box, control, dish, fitting all for nowt…. which was nice.
So keep looking and they might be able to sort something, good luck

Spain has a lot fewer daily new cases than us currently, so Spain is probably safer than here. More chance of us taking it to them again than the other way around. Both are fairly low, though

Think there will be 3 -4 changes for tomorrow.
Seems Brucie is forced to play Joelinton in the league – might not be so in the cup. Start with Carroll ? Longstaffs might feature as well.

Tom, re: Spain, they revised the way they report their figures a few weeks ago and that had the miraculous result of showing many less cases and deaths as previously! Strange that, just when all their hoteliers were complaining about losing “this holiday season”. You’re doing the right thing, do your homework and research everything carefully. Don’t pay attention to idiots on line (even me) -stay safe mate.

Happy to pay what I feel is fair, so gotta be lower than their usual.
I guess phoning is a good idea too you can’t negotiate online.

Nah Darlow and Gillespie as Dubs backup, Gillespie just taking Elliot’s place in the squad. Also a homegrown player as he came through our academy.

Woodman off on loan again, 1 year left on his contract so big year coming up.
