Bruce – We Have A Decent Run Going – I’ve Been Very Pleased – We’ve Done OK

The lads have come back from their three-month break and have hit the ground running.

Four points from two games should have been 6 points, but we’ll take the 4 points, and we are now 12 points above the drop zone with 7 games to play.

We also have the 4th round of the FA Cup at home to Manchester City tomorrow night, so things have gone from nothing to full steam ahead as far as playing games is concerned.

Project Restart so far has been successful as long as we can keep the coronavirus infections down.

The league is due to end four weeks tomorrow, and Liverpool are the Champions of the Premier League for the first time in their history.

Hopefully, if Newcastle are acquired by the Amanda Staveley consortium, we can start making some inroads to become regularly part of the top six in the Premier League.

Here’s where we stand at the moment – still in 13th place despite those 4 points in the previous two games:

PosTeamGamesGDPoints
10Burnley38-754
11Southampton38-952
12Everton38-1249
13Newcastle38-2044
14Crystal Palace38-1943
15Brighton38-1541
16West Ham38-1339

Steve Bruce (shown above) seems very pleased with the way things are going as he had this today yesterday in his press conference:

What we have done in the last six or seven games has enabled us to be a bit more of a threat going forward.”

“Touch wood, defensively we have been rock solid, long may it continue.”

“It is important that we don’t think we have achieved something, and we don’t down tools.”

“We have put a decent little run together after lockdown and to get four points from six, which might have been six from six, had it not been a rare defensive lapse.”

“Overall, I’ve been very pleased with the way we are.

“We have one or two knocks, and we have to see how we are, on the quiet we have done OK.”

And here are the upcoming fixtures starting with with our tough FA Cup quarter-final tie at home tomorrow.

I think Warnock taking over Boro will save them, though they are currently in the bottom 3 as Luton are winning.
Shame it did,nt work out for Woodgate. He might of been a class CH, but he is bloody crap as a manager.

I envy the wolves team, can you imagine are maxi and taore as 2/3rds of an attacking line, be like playing fifa 96 were winger run faster then the game loads…, as for decent run we aint lost but we beat Sheffield after they went to 10 men and drew with villa at home.
Can’t wait for the takeover so we can start behaving like a proper club…

Woodman back from loan too, not seen much of him for Swansea this season but he seems to be their first choice. Not sure we need Darlow any more.

    Morning….

I said the same about Traore and ASM – BUT, I imagined them playing for us.
rather get Traore than give ASM. 🙂

Would rather send woodman out on loan again than sit on the bench, Dubs will be 1st choice next season.

Freddie nexts as many games as poss, like henderson has done on his loan at sheff United. 23yr old now freddie so club need to decide if they think he will become a PL keeper or not.

I went to Salou years ago. Split my head open in the swimming pool and had to go be rushed to hoslital, then a week after we left the hotel we’d been staying in got blown up in a terror incident. I’ll always remember it as the holiday that nearly killed me twice!

Jib says he goes to Spain….. he says a lot but whether it’s true or not.

You’d best listen to the news about quarantine on return fro Spain and other countries.

But and it’s up to you, have you thought about twice being on a plane?

Good point, I guess I see Freddie as back-up now rather than competition for our first choice. I’d have liked to see him getting PL games a couple of years ago really. He was showing a lot of promise a few years ago, won a few things with the England u20s but never seemed to move on to the next level.

You ever been down my way mate? Newquay sounds like it could be your sort of town. Plenty of beaches and nice places to go walking around there and a good bit of nightlife down there too.

My boss is spanish, he’s been trying to get back to Valencia since lockdown.
Apparently they distance passengers on the plane by only selling 1/3 to 1/2 the seats and only put you next to someone if you’re related.
Downside to a half full plane is double price for a ticket.

It’s hard to see any of the Longstaffs playing tomorrow unless hes really stuck for players. They haven’t played a moments football in months. God I hope Hayden is fit and playing tomorrow, we always do well against them when he’s playing. Same with Richie actually. Something about those two when we play City brings the best out of us. If both are playing tomorrow and fully fit we have a chance!

    OP
“Can the Premier league be viewed as a fit n proper organisation if they’re forcing a potential owner to buy a tv rights deal before giving the rubber stamp?”

If this is what the PL are truly doing, isn’t this a kind of extortion?
