Carroll, Darlow, And Schar Get Starts Against Manchester City

Here is the team Steve Bruce has selected for the evening’s FA Cup quarter-final against Manchester City. It has four changes from the 1-1 draw against Aston Villa.

It looks as though Steve Bruce has reverted to five at the back and will play a 5-4-1 with Miguel Almiron out on the right-wing.

Andy Carroll gets his first start since December. Karl Darlow gets another opportunity in goal in this competition.

This is who Pep Guardiola will send out for the visitors.

It’s all to play for this evening as a place in the semi-finals is up for grabs. The lads will be up against a very strong Manchester City side who will be looking to compensate for a disappointing league campaign with more cup success.

Bruce has made quite a few changes but also altered the formation. It worked against the Citizens in November. Let’s hope for another solid display from the lads this evening.

Howay The Lads!

Might as well have played the kids. Darlo is not good enough, now we play depper just to give him more protection.

    Crap move Bruce

Carroll has scored fewer goals than Gayle , muto and Linton but starts ahead of all three today? Ok

Well i will happily say im wrong if Darlow has a blinder, but its our first chance of a semi final in how many years? We should give it our best shot and that means playing your best keeper against Man City’s attack.

Maxi & Almiron running past knock-downs from Carroll with 5 at the back. Fair enough…

I’m going to stick my head out and say that although Darlow isn’t a great choice, I really think Dubravka can be over rated at times and his form is not great. His distribution can be shocking at times.

Every time Carroll starts there is chaos in our defence on corners. Unlike linton he doesn’t like staying upfront to provide an outlet because he doesn’t have the legs so he inserts himself into defence causing confusion for his own teammates . I won’t be surprised to see us concede on a corner today.

totally agree with should be playing Dubs but it is what it is

if we lose and Darlow say has an average game but no mistakes would we blame it on this change?

If yer opening gambit each day is on the takeover not happening then it looks like your looking for bites and here to agitate .

You are not doing yerself or the blog any favours .

Try something horticultural …say it with flowers , leave the Narcissus aside though , don’t like them, they smell of piss.

    Peace man.

Dubravka all day long at this point. What would he be being “saved” for? A mathematical certainty run in? The chance to not win a cup round against Man city? If we lose this one Bruce needs to be run over with a large vehicle.

Got Caroll starting today and involvement of the Longstaffs. Cannot quite see why Darlow is getting a game.

Hope there are no injuries to Maxi.

I think we’ll get beat – but you never know – keep them out and sneak a goal. Caroll will batter them a bit as well.

Thanks mate, I’ll stop repeatedly posting negative comments about the takeover every day when other people stop posting positive ones. Hope this doesn’t sound like I’m having a dig btw, just my perspective on the whole thing and I appreciate the manner in which you’re going about this.

I’m all for getting back on topic now dude so last on that one from me but thanks again.
