Carroll, Darlow, And Schar Get Starts Against Manchester City

Here is the team Steve Bruce has selected for the evening’s FA Cup quarter-final against Manchester City. It has four changes from the 1-1 draw against Aston Villa.

It looks as though Steve Bruce has reverted to five at the back and will play a 5-4-1 with Miguel Almiron out on the right-wing.

Andy Carroll gets his first start since December. Karl Darlow gets another opportunity in goal in this competition.

This is who Pep Guardiola will send out for the visitors.

It’s all to play for this evening as a place in the semi-finals is up for grabs. The lads will be up against a very strong Manchester City side who will be looking to compensate for a disappointing league campaign with more cup success.

Bruce has made quite a few changes but also altered the formation. It worked against the Citizens in November. Let’s hope for another solid display from the lads this evening.

Howay The Lads!

What kind of analysis are you looking for?

The one goal Dubs conceded was Shelvey’s fault. I don’t remember anyone else getting in Darlow’s way for any of those cup goals.

    Shots faced for those goals

Darlow: 12 Shots on target from champo/league one sides, 4 goals conceded.

Dubs 11 shots faced from prem sides, 1 goal conceded.

I’m hoping for a big win today!

In other news – I’ve been on this blog since 2007. The comments were funny, informative, on point and above all friendly. I can’t read a post nowaday’s without 3 pages of bickering and in fighting. It’s really sad to see. I guess it’s an indicament of todays society and the fragile psychology that holds it together. Either way – This is my last day on here. Thanks to those who made me laugh, brought new ideas and listened to my opinions. It’s been a ride.

    Rose tinted specs I think.

I’ve spent most of the day back in 2007 to 2012 and nothing has changed.

it’s good practice to keep faith with your cup keeper in later rounds so Bruce done the right thing.

It’s so disappointing not having the fans there, the place would be absolutely bouncing right now and we would be in with a real shout against these, I can’t see us winning this without the fans, they are just a class above us.

Goals conceded are not often the keepers fault. I’m not a fan of either keeper, just saying you cannot use that type of information and glean anything that is mathematically valid.

Yep, 2 goals conceded vs West Brom of the Champo, 2 goals conceded vs Oxford of div1.

we havent won anything for 50 years, no semifinal in 15, we should be going as strong as possible for this, including our best keeper.
