He’s Carried Injuries In Previous Seasons – He’s A Very Good Player For Us

When you a manager, you often get what you expect from a player or employee.

So if you don’t think they are very good, that’s what you get.

On the other hand, if you really rate a player they usually start playing well.

And that seems to be what happened with Jonjo Shelvey under the guidance of Newcastle manager Steve Bruce.

Bruce has always rated Shelvey and Jonjo has played well for Newcastle this season.

It seems that Jonjo has a slight injury at the moment, so he may not start tonight against Manchester City in the FA Cup quarter-final.

This is what Steve Bruce said about the midfielder (shown above) in the Chronicle today:

“He scored the equalizer against Man City.”

“Jonjo is a very good footballer who has bought into everything we’ve tried to do.”

“Physically and the way he is, he has always had a natural football ability because that has come easy to him.”

“It’s the other side we have worked on him physically and mentally.”

“Jonjo has been a very good player for me.”

“Certainly this season he has been very good in general.”

“I only judge him on the performances he has put in for me.”

“I think he has carried an injury in previous times during previous seasons.”

“I don’t think that ever does you any favors and I think he’s learned that.”

“You have to be 100% right.” “Especially a game of this magnitude, against Man City.”

“The sports science is quite incredible now.” “We set him targets to go and hit and improve in training.”

“Jonjo is right up there. Physically he’s put himself in really good condition.”

“He has a bit of a niggle and we’ll see how he is but a fit and healthy Jonjo gives us a very good footballer.”

Shelvey recently signed a new contract that will keep him at the club for another three years.

But if we get new owners, it’s not clear if Steve Bruce will be at Newcastle next season: that’s even if we do very well through the end of this season.

One-third of our fans think we will lose the game tonight.

If Sean Longstaff is fit to play tonight, I wonder if the long break will have done him good? He just seemed off the pace in pretty much every game this season. Don’t know if he was carrying an injury or it was a mental thing from his bad injury at the end of the last season.

He’s always looked like a very athletic player throughout his career so it’s been very strange to watch him struggle to get around the pitch.

Two engineers were standing at the base of a flagpole, looking at its top. A blonde walked by and asked what they were doing.
“We’re supposed to find the height of this flagpole,” said Sven, “but we don’t have a ladder.”

The woman took a wrench from her purse, loosened a couple of bolts, and laid the pole down on the ground. Then she took a tape measure from her handbag, took a measurement and announced, “Twenty one feet, six inches,” and walked away.

One engineer shook his head and laughed, “Typical blonde! We ask for the height and she gives us the length!”

I agree mate, current regime has lied to us for far too long. From my point of view, they seem to be doing it again this time and I think it’s time we started asking the harder questions and taking unified action as fans against the regime.

A policeman arrives at the crime scene
“Now, Madam, can you describe the man who stole your handbag?”

“Oh, it all happened so fast! He pushed me over from behind, I didn’t see him at all. One thing though; he was a vegan.”

    “How do you know that?”

“He told me as he was running off.”

He probably means our limited capabilities as a unit, of which i doubt he will be losing any sleep over.

JohnReese #126 Agreed. He’s just seemed to have plodded around games and let his head droop when misplacing a pass. Actually a bit like Shelvey when he’s been in the same situation.

It’s a strange thing form and fitness. Whenever a player is carrying or knock or quite clearly not at he races you can see them making more mistakes and then not chasing to help make up for them once they occur.

    Uri Geller,

That’s usually the thing when a player’s out of form at least they can “put a shift in” and the fans will still get behind them but it’s been so difficult with Sean this season when he’s been out of form and can’t really get around the pitch. I hate to think the reaction he might have gotten had he not been a local lad.

The first few games of the season it was like he was trying to be Shelvey with his passing range.

I’ve seen people talking about claiming refunds:
At the moment you can only claim for match tickets such as today’s cup game of tickets bought for PL home games – the missed games for ST holders comes later.
You log into your ticket account and then to indicate how you want the refund (credit, money back on card etc.) you have to purchase 1 x refund (you must only purchase 1 and not the number of tickets or it won’t work).

I am not surprised that the PL are taking so long over the F&P test. They must have been itching to get leverage on the Saudis for years. The Saudi piracy has lost the PL a lot of income, and now the NUFC takeover has given them the opportunity the PL have been craving.
The Saudis have already demonstrated that they won’t obey rules that are not backed up by effective sanctions. So I would not be at all surprised if the PL want them to take up the broadcast rights (probably paying up front). Then the PL would be happy and we get progress.

Kevin Vegan, Kevin i can see your obviously very intelligent and bright, i have no problem with you at all, and your entitled to your views on this blog just like every other person on this blog, some people think the takeover will happen, and some dont think it will happen, the one thing we all have in common is we all support Newcastle and we are all desperate for the takeover to happen, with the greatest respect to you Kevin i think its better to respect others view point and just agree to differ, from my point of view i really really want the takeover to happen just like every Newcastle fan so we can finally get rid of that parasite Ashley, just like ever Newcastle fan i dont have a clue if it will happen, buts its best just to except ever fan will have a different opinion Keven and leave it at that Kevin. From what I have seen, it’s much more the WTO and Qatar that are pushing on the piracy front than the PL. The WTO put a panel together back in 2018 to investigate the Saudis after they blocked Qatar’s investigation, and the recent moves by the Saudis followed the WTO report. They did not appear to relate to any movement with our takeover.

The PL will have realised that anyone who is going to watch pirated streams of matches will just find another stream if the Saudis are taken down. It’s the same thing that happens in all black markets: guns, drugs, you name it. You take one person down, and a bunch more pop up to fill the gap. As long as there is demand for piracy, there will still be piracy. I’m quite sure the PL know this.
