Steve Bruce – He Has A Big Part To Play And Needs To Put That One Behind Him

Martin Dubravka should have done better with the 82nd-minute equalizer by Aston Villa on Sunday night, and it, unfortunately, cost us 2 points.

But we will take the draw and 4 points from home games against Sheffield United and Villa since the league restarted.

Next up are Manchester City at home tonight in the FA Cup quarter-final, and there are rumors City will be missing maybe seven of their players.

But any team City play is always competitive because of their huge squad-depth, and it will be a surprise if we can get through to the semi-finals of the FA Cup.

A surprise, yes, but that’s what manager Steve Bruce will be gunning for.

In these tough games, Martin Dubravka and the defense, in general, will need to be at their very best if we are to give ourselves any chance of winning.

Ahmed Elmohamady header goes under Martin Dubravka on Sunday

This is what Steve Bruce has said about the 31-year-old Slovakian, International, and the game tonight as reported in the Chronicle:

“He has played very well, Martin.”

“I am sure he will be just as disappointed as I was because let’s be honest, it was a soft goal.”

“Jonjo probably got in his way, but knowing the way Martin is he will be disappointed that he let that one through.”

“It’s our first goal conceded in five games at St James’.

“We will have to be at our resilient best at the weekend.”

“Martin has a big part to play. If you are going to get something from Man City then you need your goalkeeper to play very well.”

“He’s done that all year since coming into the club in the last two years, he’s had a wonderful rise.”

“Let’s see if he puts that one behind him.”

Martin Dubravka has been an excellent goalkeeper for us since he joined us on loan in January of 2018 and made it permanent in that summer for a measly fee of £4M from Sparta Prague.

But he shows he’s human now and again with slight mistakes.

However, his temperament and character are such that he is determined to improve his game, and we will see him become an even better goalkeeper for Newcastle in the years ahead,

Not too many of our fans think we can win this game tonight.

Looks like its going to be all Liverpool on the SS this morn.
Feel sorry for the Liverpool fans when you consider their lack of success over the last 30 yrs since they last won the title.NOT.
They want to take a look at the north east and compare trophy cabinets, bloody embarrassing it is.

Always liked Krul and he played his part here without a doubt but the most frustrating thing for me about him was his piss poor distribution and for me thats one of the most important attributes for a GK

From previous – leazes end circa early 70 s was a huge corrugated metal bog. Improvements have been great but I miss the old standing and the surging of the crowd, falling off the concrete barriers etc

    Repost from previous

    Which seems more likely

    1. The PL have the paperwork, but they have just sat on it for 3 months doing nothing for absolutely nothing, despite the fact that other takeovers have all been completed within about 3 weeks

    Or

    2. The sale was all a lie from the start and we have been waiting for 3 months because the paperwork never reached the PL. The journalists went off half-cocked on some pure guesswork about a “deposit payment” that was actually a loan from Ashley to Staveley and has no direct connection to any Saudi takeover of our club.

Remember that it is the same FAPL board that is handling our takeover that has handled every other takeover in recebt memory without complications or lengthy delays. Also remember that the club has supposedly been up for sale for over a decade, and a dozen or so “serious buyers” have apparently been interested in the club but we have never been sold.

    So which seems more likely?

Got to be number 2 hasn’t it?

vegan really this debate again ffs

everyone understands you don’t believe the takeover but a lot do and they don’t care if you believe in it or not

nobody is trying to convince you it’s real because like i said yesterday nobody cares

accept there reasons why they want to believe and everyone will accept yours and then drop it….

    because nobody cares

It was a mere rhetorical flourish my friend, to illustrate a point about real insults.

If I had in reality even inferred such a thing, you would be well within you right to have me killed by your many brothers and cousins as is traditional in such matters

Too right, this one should go down as Shelvey’s mistake. He was right so Dubs wouldn’t have had a clear view of the ball until it was right under him. Shelvey either needs to be on the near post or closing down the man, not just milling around the 6 yard box getting in the keeper’s way.
