Steve Bruce – He Has A Big Part To Play And Needs To Put That One Behind Him

Martin Dubravka should have done better with the 82nd-minute equalizer by Aston Villa on Sunday night, and it, unfortunately, cost us 2 points.

But we will take the draw and 4 points from home games against Sheffield United and Villa since the league restarted.

Next up are Manchester City at home tonight in the FA Cup quarter-final, and there are rumors City will be missing maybe seven of their players.

But any team City play is always competitive because of their huge squad-depth, and it will be a surprise if we can get through to the semi-finals of the FA Cup.

A surprise, yes, but that’s what manager Steve Bruce will be gunning for.

In these tough games, Martin Dubravka and the defense, in general, will need to be at their very best if we are to give ourselves any chance of winning.

Ahmed Elmohamady header goes under Martin Dubravka on Sunday

This is what Steve Bruce has said about the 31-year-old Slovakian, International, and the game tonight as reported in the Chronicle:

“He has played very well, Martin.”

“I am sure he will be just as disappointed as I was because let’s be honest, it was a soft goal.”

“Jonjo probably got in his way, but knowing the way Martin is he will be disappointed that he let that one through.”

“It’s our first goal conceded in five games at St James’.

“We will have to be at our resilient best at the weekend.”

“Martin has a big part to play. If you are going to get something from Man City then you need your goalkeeper to play very well.”

“He’s done that all year since coming into the club in the last two years, he’s had a wonderful rise.”

“Let’s see if he puts that one behind him.”

Martin Dubravka has been an excellent goalkeeper for us since he joined us on loan in January of 2018 and made it permanent in that summer for a measly fee of £4M from Sparta Prague.

But he shows he’s human now and again with slight mistakes.

However, his temperament and character are such that he is determined to improve his game, and we will see him become an even better goalkeeper for Newcastle in the years ahead,

Not too many of our fans think we can win this game tonight.

Sorry, haven’t been on blog as much recently, possibly for obvious reasons.

What’s the injury situation in central midfield, anyone?

It’s Newcastle, anything can happen,my thinking is,we get a rare trip to wembley, lift the cup in an empty stadium, our new owners sack the first man to deliver a domestic trophy for 65 years, and #NUFC become the most hated club in country..or your right.. we get stuffed 4-1..Flushed faceFace with tears of joy

I disagree with the extra time being played, as if the schedule isn’t enough.

Didn’t mind the ground, away fans right hand side of the Kippax, made for a good atmosphere.
Moss side in the darkness was no picnic, always trouble there.

Looking forward to the days game, upset on the cards……….Howay !

    Lovem

    I said “around” 3 weeks.

City’s took 3 weeks, and every report I have read on the tests prior to this said they normally take between 2 to 4 weeks, such as this one:

“It could take two to four weeks for any new owner to pass the test set by the Premier League”

    https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/what-fit-proper-premier-league-16348471

So do you think it’s more likely that our takeover has taken 4 times as long as the others or do you think it’s more likely that the paperwork never reached the PL to begin with?

Bruce is a company man through and through. He’s every bit as much in Mike Ashley’s pocket as anyone else. Why is he blaming the PL? Maybe because his boss has told him to?

My thoughts on todays game. If we gonna have any chance today we need to start carroll. Joelinton is a waste of space and must not play unless he plays left of a 4231 with almiron in no10 and saint max on right. Joe must not start upfront. However to start it must be 433 as we will need 3 mid to compensate for shelveys lack of pace in chasing the ball and closing players down. Fingers crossed hayden is available. Carroll must start 100% as someone needs to hold ball and give city sumat to worry about in set pieces

I’m bored of the PR mate, so trying to do everyone here a favour and counter their utter nonsense. They’re lying to us mate and they’ve turned the whole blog against anyone asking questions.

Sorry mate but I’ll keep posting about this until something changes. We need Ashley gone first and foremost.
