Newcastle Reportedly Have Dutch International At The Top Of Their Wish-List

Newcastle will be in the hunt for a striker or two this summer. We’ve been linked with quite a few already.

Though with four on the books for next season, it’s likely the club will also be trying to offload Yoshinori Muto, who’s barely played since joining, and Dwight Gayle, who has just one year remaining on his contract.

The plan could be to bring in two top strikers to compete with Andy Carroll and Joelinton, who have struggled to get goals this season.

A new name has come up in Newcastle’s search for a goalscorer. Sport Witness is citing German outlet Bild that the Magpies have identified Wolfsburg striker Wout Weghorst as a top target.

He joins a very long list of strikers linked with a summer move to Tyneside should the takeover get approved. If there’s one thing the Dutchman has brought recently, it’s goals.

Weghorst stands 6’6″ and has been scoring for fun over the past four years. He joined Bundesliga club Wolfsburg two seasons ago and has bagged 38 goals, 20 of them coming this season.

Before his move to Germany, the 27-year-old played for several Dutch clubs, including AZ Alkmaar, where he scored 45 times in 86 appearances before joining Wolfsburg.

Weghorst (shown above) made his debut for the Netherlands two years ago and has since made four international appearances, though has yet to get his debut goal for his country.

It’s hard to tell who Newcastle are really after. We really don’t know who will be involved in transfer activity this summer as it depends on the takeover getting pushed through or not.

Weghorst will turn 28 in August, so if we go by the Mike Ashley model, he’s likely not to be a target should the current owner remain at Newcastle.

Though we all hope that won’t be the case and the Premier League will finally get around to approving the Saudi-backed consortium as Newcastle’s new owners.

From Cavani to Weghorst. That is an indication that the takeover is off or never has been on…

You were wrong, its not wiggle room, you didnt read the question he asked properly, id guess because you were so excited to jump on him and instead you made a mistake.

    Let it go, its embarrassing.

If there is a fair reason to have a go then no worries, this time you misread it. Simple as.

Ctommo,, smart move by the dcms asking about nufc then straight after highlighting the human rights issues and slave labour of Qatar.

I thought the same Northumbrian. He did his best to distance the pl from the Qatar issue, and got over the takeover with the confidentiality thing.
