We Need This Man At His Best Through The End Of This Season

There’s an interview on nufcTV today with Andy Carroll, who has just signed on for another season at his hometown club.

And he is a little fortunate to get the chance since this season was another one where he has missed lots of games through injury.

He has appeared 17 times for Newcastle with no goals but five assists, and he was our Man of the Match on Sunday night against Manchester City.

And when he’s in that kind of form, he’s difficult for any defense to handle.

Carroll is still hungry for success at Newcastle, and he was not pleased when he didn’t start the game against Aston Villa in what turned out to be a disappointing 1-1 draw in the middle of last week.

But Andy (shown above on Sunday night) is delighted he has at least one more year at Newcastle.

And while we hope it will be under new owners, the Premier League are taking a long time to come to some decision on the Saudi-backed takeover.

If they stay on the fence say for another month or two, it will have significant ramifications for the club with Mike Ashley still the owner.

Andy was asked about his new deal, and he had this to say as reported in the Chronicle:

“I’m absolutely delighted. It’s been a stop-start season for all of us and especially me.”

“To sign that and know I am here next year is great. Hopefully, I can kick on.”

“It has been tough, I’ve come back from injury and we stopped the season.”

We have started again now. It has been up and down.”

“I am looking forward to finishing this season and starting the next.”

“I’d like to think I am not just about scoring goals.”

“A striker’s job is to create chances and something I really enjoy doing.”

It’s certainly been a unique season caused by the coronavirus pandemic, and the danger of the disease is not over yet.

At least not over here in the US, with cases continuing to climb.

But hopefully, it can be contained, and a vaccine developed in the meantime, but it’s still a worrying virus for the epidemiologists.

Project Restart has been going well, with few new cases amongst the players, although it’s weird to watch the games played in empty stadiums.

We are at Bournemouth on Wednesday night, and that’s another tough game for the club.

Maybe Andy can score in that game?

And it would be good to see Andy put in some good performances and remain fit through the final 7 games of the season.

How Will Newcastle Do At Bournemouth On Wednesday?

It was Gothmog begged the Chi question –

‘It was the MP for Sunderland who asked the Q, not sure where Chi is or if she is involved’

    Phew, I’m not completely barking!

Guys – I know it’s frustrating and I am annoyed as anyone by the PL but when Masters says he cannot comment he is in fact telling the truth. He’s legally not allowed to. Because, despite us all knowing about it, the fit and proper owners test is strictly confidential. The ONLY people who can comment on this are the current owners or the proposed buyers. But they have ALL signed NDAs meaning they too are now legally bound not to say anything until it is all resolved. It’s frustrating but I worry some of the horrible comments being made about people who are not allowed to say anything is not painting us fans in the best light.

KV, Froggy – still think it is made up by Ashley and not really with the PL?

GP unfortunately Chi did upset a lot of her own supports with that speech,
a lot of local councilors were disappointed and felt she was expressing a personal opinion and not that of most of her constituents and she should have made that clear,
it has caused a bit of a rift within her team, which is a massive shame all things considered

@anglo the Scottish tw@t is really putting the boot in re the takeover. He is highlighting piracy and the murder of the journalist, claiming shiek is not a fit and proper person etc. my confidence is now on a downer, Masters is trying to keep his cool but failing. Says there is no time limit on the announcement.

Its such a divisive situation,, and if we are honest the Saudis have a lot of red in their ledger, but if you can affect positive change in the future by association and working with them then is that the best result for everyone involved?

Masters might want the takeover to be concluded soon but that’s a wish, not fact.

Masters didnt mention NUFC, so Broccoli Man is technically correct 🙂

Man oh man, if i hear anything about sentient animals and vegan activism i will do my nut today. 🙂

Richard Masters on TV piracy: ‘BeoutQ is now off the air, and what we want, off the back of the WTO report, is for Saudi Arabia to respond positively the situation and to allow sports rights-holders to take their rights.’

Gothmog, I think if we think that their owning NUFC is going to stop hands being chopped off for nicking a mobile phone we are probably a bit ambitious or deluded.

Wasnt Tsunki of the same head in the sand opinion – that nothing was different in this process than previous ones, and that the Companies House item was all it was – ie nowt happening in reality ? Utter shite of course but we;ve had plenty of that from many sources like him.
