In what was one of the best performances for some time from Newcastle, the lads have thrashed a woeful Bournemouth side 4-1.
Newcastle came out unchanged after their brilliant first-half performance.
Allan Saint-Maximin launched a shot from just outside the area, but Aaron Ramsdale was able to parry it away in the 51st minute.
The Frenchman followed that up a few minutes later with a brilliant run from deep in the Newcastle end. However, his pass to Miguel Almiron was too strong for the Paraguayan to control.
However, Almiron soon made it 3-0 with a beautiful goal in the 57th minute. He collected the ball from Allan Saint-Maximin and went around Ake into the box. Miguel placed the ball perfectly passed Ramsdale. That makes it seven goals from Miggy this year.
Bruce made a double change in the 62nd minute bringing Andy Carroll and Valentino Lazaro on for Dwight Gayle and Allan Saint-Maximin. Then in quick succession, it was Isaac Hayden on for Joelinton and DeAndre Yedlin in for Javier Manquillo.
Lazaro then made it 4-0 with a 77th-minute strike. Jonjo Shelvey found Lazaro on an inch-perfect run past the Bournemouth backline. His shot was superb as it floated past over Ramsdale for his first Premier League goal.
Former Magpie Dan Gosling got a consolation goal deep in stoppage time to make it 4-1. It’s a shame to lose the clean sheet but we’ll take the three points tonight.

Comment #3No pressure and not getting caught up in atmospheres means our quality is showing.
Shows we need to work on our mentality, to be able to perform in such a manner under normal conditions.
Another convincing win against West Ham and we’ll be flying.
ASM MOTM. He and Gayle should be fresh for W Ham. Expect more goals.
Hope we set up the same again, just with Almiron for Longstaff if he is injured.
Love Hayden, but for matches against these struggling teams Bentaleb-Shelvey is the way to go, much more fluent in possession, good balance and more forward passing.

Comment #4Repost as I missed the bus..
Always difficult to pick out a single MOTM in a game like that but ASM just once again showing how incredibly important he is to us.
Thought Bentaleb gave us a control in midfield that we’ve been sorely lacking all season.
Defended well for 99% of the game even without first choice fullbacks, thought Krafth did well, didn’t commit too much going forward and almost formed a 3 at the back which allowed Manquillo in particular to join in down the left.

Comment #15Best football we’ve played in a good while, maxi is an absolute gem, fatty needs to go to keep him. Lazaro looked classy again when he came on and how cheeky was almirons finish. Now onto west ham and hopefully give them cockney mugs the same …. Love to see those gobshites go down “the west ham way” my arse.

Comment #16Stats don’t lie. 433 improves just about everything in nearly every category. Please no more returns to a back 5 with shar as a CB with 23% possession or even 4231. 433 is the answer.

Newcastle look like they could’ve played another 45 minutes. That is how comfortable they were. It was too easy.

Comment #21Top performance from the lads very well done.
Where you Brucey haters hiding?? 😉
Obviously Maxi MOTM nothing needs to be said he says it all himself.
Bentaleb looked the best I’ve seen and totally wrote him off but we’ll see how he finishes the season before I completely judge him.
The only shining light in Longy coming off was seeing Miggy back to his best, hope Sean is good tho and looked it good spirits in the stand so might not be that bad.
Brilliant night safety guaranteed (yes I hear you irishrob) and all we can do is look up and see what happens.

Comment #29Shelvey played a lot better second half, but either way he needs a rest and shouldn’t be playing the weekend, added to that Bentaleb really deserves another start after that performance.
Maxi just amazing MOTM. Bruce couldn’t have done any better today. Amazing set up, and brilliant subs AT THE RIGHT times.

Comment #30Excellent performance. Full credit to Bruce and the lads for such a good reaction after City. Too bad we didn’t keep the clean sheet.
Also great to see some of the players there were questions about – Longstaff, Krafth and Bentaleb for me – put in a good shift.
The early goal that Longstaff won the ball that would quickly find Gayle and the net really shook Bournemouth and we took advantage.
Great result. Howay the Ladds!
