Poll – Who Was The Man Of The Match In Win At Bournemouth?

Wow, what a display from the lads tonight. And with a somewhat makeshift team no less. Sean Longstaff was outstanding playing as a number 10 like he did in win at Oxford in the FA Cup. It’s a real shame he was forced off in the first half with what we hope is not a serious injury.

Dwight Gayle and Joelinton were also thorns in Bournemouth’s side with Gayle getting his second goal since the league resumed. Joelinton looked bright early on before being taken off for Isaac Hayden as Bruce tried to preserve the lead.

The midfield duo of Jonjo Shelvey and Nabil Bentaleb were terrific as they bossed the game. Bentaleb had his best outing as a Magpie. Shelvey had a terrific assist on Lazaro’s goal.

Martin Dubravka and the defenders did their part as they came ever so close to capturing another clean sheet. However, a lapse of concentration in the closing minutes allowed Bournemouth to get a consolation goal through Dan Gosling.

However, Allan Saint-Maximin may have topped them all with his display. It was a risk to play him from the start but it paid off big time.

The Frenchman put in another star turn and added three assists to bring his season total to seven to go with his three goals. What a signing he’s turned out to be.

Imagine where we would be if we went with a back 4 all season, or at least against the teams outside of the top 4.

We could be top 6 easily.

Once again we are close to having a really good team, each previous time Ashley has messed it up and not recruited and we lost our top players, if this takeover goes ahead we are only 3 or 4 signings away from a team who can hit the top 6-8 consistently.

Given my vote to Kraft – thought did well and suprised to see how good his passing was never/hardly wasted a ball

Would of given it to Longstaffe (not on long enough) was having his best game this season until sadly he pulled up

I’ll tell you what, Lazaro can play and all. Would love to see him and ASM on the same pitch together, both have that get up out of your seat ability to glide past players.

    Asked this a while ago.
Could there be a legal reason, linked to us being Guaranteed PL football next season, before ya announcement can be made?
    Mathematically safe that is….?

Lazaro instead of Joelinton on Sunday.
Joelinton was the worst player on the pitch.

We’ve got to pay Bentaleb ahead of Hayden from now on. Hayden is technically poor and never brave on the ball- every pass of his goes backwards completely shutting down any attacking intent or potential for decent passing football.

He comes on today and scuffs a pass straight to the opposition and they had a rare attack from it. It happens all the time. Our passing is miles better and far more positive with Bentaleb there.

Look, Bournemouth are rubbish and deserve to go down, but it was wonderful to watch the boys pass the ball and play structured attacking football. Some good goals and ASM in a class of his own. So many personal bests. I really enjoyed Longstaff at 10 and Shelley’s passing range was on display again. Joelinton did well out wide and the wide backs both played well. Great to see Miggy and Lazaro score. Both well taken goals. All in all, a great evenings entertainment. HOTL

    Repost – it’s like the Haymarket tonight….

    Hulky

A few have surmised the same, but legally – doubtful.

It makes sense to the buyer, and we live in hope of any possible link to the takeover, but alas, hope & wait is all we have.

@ Gonufc : That may be so about Hayden, but we call him the Undertaker. His tackling is second to nobody. One of the best in the league in my opinion. Particularly good supporting someone with the passing range of Shelvey. Having said that, I have no complaints about Bentaleb tonight. Positive play and put in a shift.

We’ve had a great game tonight and are pretty much safe now.

You dont have to act so smugly all the time trying to score points over other posters. You obviously love Brucey and I’m sure there are others who share your mindset.

Just lighten up a bit…enjoy the night and the win! HWTL
