We’ve been waiting for Steve Bruce to relent a bit with selecting Allan Saint-Maximin. It seems like Wednesday at Manchester City could be the time the Frenchman gets a much-needed break.
After the 1-1 draw against West Ham, Steve Bruce gave a partial update on the injury situation. It looks like he could be resting Allan mid-week.
Bruce also confirmed that both Sean Longstaff, who was not in the squad today, and Isaac Hayden could miss a significant portion of the rest of this season.
SB: "Unfortunately I don't think I could ask Allan to go again on Wednesday, that's for sure. Our two, arguably, fittest players in Sean Longstaff and Isaac Hayden have both got hamstring injuries. They're not serious but it's two or three weeks which probably rules them out." pic.twitter.com/E0AK2NSXFJ

Saint-Maximin is one of four Magpies to start all five games since the season resumed. The others are Jamaal Lascelles, Federico Fernandez, and Javier Manquillo.
Bruce is still short at center-back, though Florian Lejeune was spotted during training in the lead up to today’s match. How close the Frenchman is to getting back on the pitch is unclear, though.
We expected Danny Rose to be back this afternoon after playing very well in the first three games back. He could be back at right-back against Manchester City to give Javier Manquillo a needed breather.
With the way Emil Krafth has performed over the past two matches, he could get a third straight start at the Etihad on Wednesday.
There’s still plenty of options in attack and at fullback. But the midfield and center of defense is starting to look a little thin. We’ll find out more this week as the lads prepare for Manchester City.

If the turd is still here I reckon he will buy Rose for 5m as he’s a cheap option.
However if we have new owners then we can aim much higher.

I understand Mike Ashley remains in the USA and Justin Barnes has been using his helicopter to travel to and from games
Justin Barnes may be just a spectator
However
Seems unlikely that he traveled just to watch a game in an empty stadium

Comment #49We are mathematically safe after today’s results so one less hurdle in the way of the takeover completing. The focus should now be on the takeover as matches meaningless. And it’s not about getting any decision from the PL a la Shearer, it’s about getting the right decision and allowing the PIF in. Any other outcome will be an absolute disaster for NUFC. This is an even bigger watershed moment than when SJH came in.

Comment #65What disrupted our game when we were on top was the water breaks – especially first half when we were plAying our best football. Second straight after we scored – water break gave West Ham time to rethinC an not understand why they did not go to VAR to check the hand ball?

I was assuming we’d sign Rose up too after Bruce’s comments yesterday about wanting to keep the loanees on, so was surprised to see him benched for today in favour of a right-footed player at LB. It seemed to me like Bruce couldn’t decide who should start out of Manq and Krafth so decided to just stick them both on.
I think Rose is a slight upgrade on Dummett and for £5m we won’t find much better, but think we still need a more attacking option there too as neither are strong going forward. Ritchie can fill in, but I’d like us to add a more natural wing-back too if possible.

Comment #78Just been chatting to a mate of mine who asked me this:
If City get banned from Europe, Liverpool win the CL and United win the Europa, does that mean 10th place will get a spot in Europe next season? I can’t see any reason why this wouldn’t be the case but I feel like I must have overlooked something
