It’s a very difficult time for Newcastle United and has been since April 9th when the takeover papers were sent to the Premier League for their owners’ and directors’ test.
But we have heard nothing from them.
And the season ends today with Newcastle comfortably placed in 13th position thanks to a good job done by manager Steve Bruce this season.
The PL have also done well to get the league finished – I was one who never thought it would be possible – wrong again.
But you cannot say the PL have done a good job on the takeover.
It’s just been too long, and we were hoping they may have approved the deal before the last game of the season, but no.
And the transfer window opens tomorrow, so it’s going to hamper Newcastle, not knowing who will be the owner when next season starts on September 12th.
The transfer targets we have under Amanda Staveley will be different than those under the miserly and missing Mike Ashley.
So it behooves the PL to make the decision.
If they turn it down now, after all these months, it would be shocking, and a real body blow to Newcastle fans.
Amanda Staveley – potential new CEO at Newcastle United
It doesn’t seem that the Athletic’s respected journalist George Caulkin has too much to offer on the deal either, as he tweeted this yesterday.
You think there’s anything @GeorgeCaulkin in the fact that Sports Direct have no signs up in the latest training photos? They’ve all been replaced by Fun88 banners. Not like Mike that?

And former Newcastle left-back Olivier Bernard sent out an interesting tweet – he’s either just hoping and praying like the rest of us, or else he’s been told that it will happen by somebody in the know.
It’s happening… thanks god for that ! In future , I hope we will have the ambition of a great football club again # pic.twitter.com/tTb0hNTZff

Those are good comments from Olivier, and if the takeover is successful, it will indeed return Newcastle United to being one of the great clubs and teams in England – and the world for that matter.
That’s the vision.
Our fan support will also set a new standard for the rich clubs.
If the deal is going to happen, then the PL must make a decision and announce it early this coming week, so Newcastle can get going on their transfers.
The Premier League, led by CEO Richard Masters, have not looked too competent in the process.
And this nonsense about “it will take as long as it takes” is just that – nonsense.
If it’s taking this long, just turn it down and allow Newcastle to move forward.
Not much new news here – but we are hoping for an announcement soon – like in the next few days,
Yes, I know it’s the same old, same old.
But if there’s no announcement soon, it becomes more and more difficult for Newcastle.
But what’s new?
Howay The Bonnie Lads!!

Comment #41Don’t even think an emphatic win from Bruce would keep him here.
The consortium will know the feelings of the fans and I believe that’s really important to the new owners and they will create a new connection.

Comment #44It’s not about today. It’s about a decision when it comes. Surely the PL have had enough time to reject this now. It still seems that KSA getting the hammer out to a nut a couple of weeks ago was a bad move though. Everything seemed to be moving slowly but surely until then?

Comment #45I think they wud be so much better off getting a new mgr and DOF in Mund. But assuming Caulkin is right and mandy and Co have talked re the squad and what is needed, who is making those football decisions? Bruce? Their own nominated man, eg Poch? Seems odd to me.

“If it’s taking this long, turn it down and let the club move on”.
Not that simple because Ashley is running the club into the ground and won’t “move it on”!

Comment #49KV; Given that the test is simple on what grounds would the PL reject the takeover? If indeed there is one.

Comment #50It’s quite possible the O&D test has been successfully completed and Saudi are waiting for a propitious moment to announce the takeover in combination with a marquee signing. The more I think about this, the more plausible it seems.

Comment #51I presume we`ll get trashed today.
Will quickly be forgotten if they announce new ownership after the game though, and I do hope that King Kev and Shearer will be in one or another way.
For now I`m gonna stay positive and presume that we will have new owners soon and zip on some green danish Carlsberg.
