The Mirror is reporting that Newcastle fans may soon get to cheer on the Magpies at St James Park once again. Though it will not be 52,000 strong. According to the report, the whole of next season could be played with a reduced number of fans in the stands.
This claim has both an upside as well as a downside. We fully expected next season to start with the matches behind closed doors. So if when September 12th rolls around, stadiums can house fans at a diminished capacity, that would be better than initially anticipated.
However, the problem is just when are things going to return to normal. The Mirror says it could be some time before restrictions on attendance at sporting events are lifted. The Mirror cites comments from James Calder, who has been working with the government and health officials.
Calder told the BBC that he doesn’t foresee a return to full stadiums until a vaccine is not only developed but widely dispersed amongst the public.
A cricket friendly between Surrey and Middlesex was played before a thousand fans last Sunday. There will also be a limited amount of fans allowed at the World Snooker Championships in Sheffield beginning on Friday.
However, those events have a much more subdued crowd without the chanting and cheering that takes place at football matches. Calder says the spread of the virus through droplets will be a concern at football matches so socially distanced fans could be the norm for the foreseeable future.

Comment #163Yeah, I guess the PL won’t make a statement, but if it fails it’ll filter through to us though, one way or another.
The press will break it, then Ashley will speak, trying to salvage what he can from the situation. We’ll find out.

This graph should help to illustrate the current stance form all parties involved.
It clearly shows Amanda, Asley and members of PiF and Ruebens all working to the same goal.

I agree 100%. I desperately want to see the back of Ashley but don’t just want anyone. This could be the last chance we get for some years to get an owner that will move the club forward. The PIF would give us that, but they have to sort out the piracy and play ball with the PL process. We are now finding out how hard it is to deal with certain MEast countries. Staveley, sort them out!

The only way you can base the decision on fact or record is if they had both managed the same team, at the same time with the same circumstances. Otherwise it is subjective and simply your opinion over someone else’s.
Would Bruce have done better this season if he had had the 25 goals of Rondon and Perez versus the 7 of Joelinton and Gayle? Who knows!?
Would they have finished the season stronger if they hadn’t already secured safety about 5 games earlier than last season? Who knows!?
All of your comments just reflect your personal opinion. That is a FACT!

Comment #176Toon Time – Saying that Rafa is overall a better manager than Bruce is a fact not opinion.
The comparison in their records as managers makes that a fact! Who has won more trophies? Who has a higher win percentage.
Again – why can people not understand simple concepts. Baffling.

Just to hammer home the point even though I really should not because it really is a simple concept to understand:
Steve Bruce (honours as manager):
Birmingham City – football league first division playoffs – 2002 and Championship Runner Up in 2006-2007
Hull City Championship Runner Up 2012-13, FA Cup Runner up 2013-2014, Championship playoff 2016
Rafa Benitez (honours as manager)
…do I really need to write this all out or has the concept become easy to understand? lol if I do, I will do it in a separate message box.

Comment #193Not sure you can reasonably attack the PL here, other than to say they should be more transparent about the progress of the application. The consortium need to satisfactorily pass all the requirements of the test. There is little doubt the bid has issues, and you get the sense the Saudi’s are slow in getting all their ducks in a row.
