Yesterday, the Shields Gazette’s Liam Kennedy teased a transfer story for this morning. He hinted that a two-year pursuit of a target could be coming to a fruitful end.
Today, he’s put out his exclusive that Newcastle is soon to hear if they’ve won the race for former-Bournemouth winger Ryan Fraser.
The Scottish international has been touted with a move to Newcastle for some time. However, links to the winger increased this past spring when it seemed certain he would leave Bournemouth on a free.
Kennedy writes that Bournemouth expected a move to be made last summer to bring Fraser to Tyneside but it never materialized. Newcastle also tried to get the 26-year-old on a pre-contract in May, but he opted to keep his options open instead.
Fraser was one of the few players to not sign an extension with their clubs to stay until the belated season ended on Sunday. He played no part for Bournemouth in the post-lockdown matches, a stretch that saw the Cherries unable to beat the drop.
It is believed that Fraser’s decision will be between Newcastle, West Ham, and Crystal Palace. Under the current circumstances, we think he would be a decent signing despite his poor final season at the Vitality Stadium.
