As we know Ms. Amanda Staveley was devastated the Newcastle takeover was not successful.
And of course, some male journalists – like Simon Jordan as one example – have blasted Ms. Staveley for showing her emotions in public.
Shame on them – and pity for them.
Amanda gave an interview to the Athletic and George Caulkin, and in the interview, she appears to hope the deal can be resurrected.
She reveals just how difficult the Premier League made it for them as they got them to jump through so many hoops and never did OK the deal.
They never turned it down other, that’s because they are wimps and not willing to stand up to their responsibilities when things get tough.
When things get tough the tough get going (and wimps rush for cover).
Here’s an excerpt from the interview:
“I hope the fans realize what’s happened, that this is a lot more complicated than it might seem.”
“I want them to understand the whole thing about the directorship, that it would be impossible for a state to become a director.”
“The Premier League made it so hard. It would be unprecedented. No country has ever become a director of a club. It’s ridiculous.”
“They were saying ‘you know what, we won’t reject you, but we won’t approve you either, so we’ll just sit here for month after month’.”
“They could have told us all this before we exchanged.”
“It’s up to the fans now.”
“Because if the fans want this back on then they’re going to have to go to the Premier League and say this isn’t fair.”
So there you have it – Amanda is asking fans to question the Premier League on what the heck they have been doing for four months and then never make a decision.
It’s unfair alright.
The Premier League have literally snubbed Newcastle United, one of their member clubs.

Comment #6Good point that a State can not become a Director who needs to be a single person.
It’s like saying that British taxpayers have a vested interest in West Ham’s stadium.
Ridiculous concept ?

Comment #7Lochinvar, I was ponderring if it would be worth the Saudi’s petitioning FIFA over this? You’ve just reminded me why that would be a waste of time.

Comment #8I saw that the Athletic reported that 2 PL teams were against the takeover, Liverpool and Tottenham. Don’t understand Liverpool but I now know why Tottenham have their mascot and badge – it’s not a cockerel, it’s a chicken because they’re scared!

Comment #10If Masters has shown that he is unable to make a decision then he’s not a fit and proper person to be in charge of an organsiation or any business for that matter.
they should remove him.
Seriously – you can not run anything even a bus timetable on that basis.
Next time the police charge you with speeding and ask for your comment just say “I work for the EPL and I’ll get back to you , whenever”

Comment #12Masters obviously didnt want this to happen due to his own political views
They used the notion of wanting the state to become a director to make sure it couldn’t ever happen
Best place to protest is parliament as they are simply going to put their heads in the sand over this

Comment #23Did NUST eventually publish the reply they got from the PL?
Oh and I hope ashLIE’s lawyer team is all over this – he does like a bit of litigation – Judicial Review anyone? If it can be used to prevent Parliament from deciding on laws then I don’t see why it can’t be used in this case.

This isn’t over yet and the fact we have her to hear from the PL with the amount of pressure they have had for an answer, says a lot.
They didn’t expect this and they are now very worried of what’s to come

Comment #27The Sun have been useful for once and ran a national story on the petition, this could pick up a steam dont stop now ppl.
We need to get it on Newcastle radio etc, there are 500k people living in Newcastle alone surely 1/5th of them have the wherewithal to sign a 30 second petition.
Everyone needs to get on to their parents, the families such as brothers, sisters, cousins etc anyone who can use a computer. This is our ONE CHACE to change things for ourselves. If you want the takeover then DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!!

Comment #29So, if this is correct and the Premier league are trying to force the country (SA) to become a director , because a country has people in it , if any of those people have been convicted of a crime the premier league would in essence be able to block the takeover as one of the directors is a criminal ……this needs to go to court

Comment #30Whilst its great doing the petitions we should have marched and protested at the Premier league HQ weeks ago. I appreciate it wasn’t clear then on what or who was the issue.
Now we have clarity, the enemy is known. We need to make ourselves heard albeit in a safe and appropriate way, considering social distance. We should be going in numbers to london.
I understand Genjekai (sp) was involved in previous protests. Are there any movements looking to do this if, are there any talks to organise it? Needs to be done.

Comment #31On masters linked in profile he also holds the post of sales and marketing director. I assume then he negotiated and signed the deal with BEIN an Qatar. Obviously he would not want to renegotiate this agreement which surely is a conflict of interest in reviewing the Saudi deal. I mentioned months ago that the face saving way out was for Saudi to compensate BEIN for the Saudi rights via The premier league. Masters was perfectly placed to do this but apparently has rejected this completely. The whole thing stinks

Comment #37Isn’t it more that they require whoever the individual who has the greatest say or clout to be listed as a Director, and in this case it’s MBS, which apparently “is not possible”. Why not? I don’t know.
I assume Sheikh Mansour is a Director at Man City for example, or have the rules been amended since City was effectively bought by the UAE.

Comment #40Don’t forget the prem still have not received any letter from the consortium saying they’ve pulled out, only Ashley so I think they’ve just told Ashley that they’ve tried and he now needs to tell masters that he’s a prem league member and the Saudis are the people who he wants to sell his business to and they should not be able to stand in his way and tell them if they do he will litigate against them.
