Henry Mauriss Reportedly “Desperate” To Become Newcastle Owner – And Follow The Way FSG Took Liverpool Back To Glory

Amanda Staveley has said in her interview with George Caulkin in the Athletic that there are no other buyers out there for Newcastle.

And yet the Telegraph (Luke Edwards) issued a report saying that Californian Billionaire Henry Mariss was indeed interested in buying Newcastle.

It looks like owner Mike Ashley squeezed a bit more money out of the Staveley consortium at the end of June, and that may have been to match Mauriss’ reported bid of £350M for Newcastle.

If the Staveley deal does not go forward, then the consortium will have lost the £17M deposit they paid months ago, and Mike Ashley will be that much richer.

Henry Mauriss – desperate to become the new Newcastle owner?

But it’s also said that on Wednesday evening before the deal fell through that Mike Ashley tried his hardest to keep the deal afloat and he is still open to selling to Amanda Staveley.

And we have to drop all that stuff that Amanda Staveley and Mike Ashley don’t get along – here’s what she said about the Newcastle owner  in her interview in the Athletic:

“Please don’t think there was any argument between Mike and I, because there wasn’t.”

“All this crap about Mike and I not getting on. We get on very well. There’s no issue with Mike.”

“None at all. We had a deal agreed. Yes, there was a bit more money on the table, but we agreed it.”

The Telegraph exclusive report is that a takeover of Newcastle United could still happen soon and before the start of next season (September 12th).

We mentioned this yesterday, with  Henry Mauriss now said to be by the Telegraph “in pole position to buy Newcastle.”

Mauriss would let Steve Bruce stay on as manager at the club, at least for next season.

And he wants to copy how Fenway Sports Group (FSG) and John Henry (who also own the Boston Red Sox) have led Liverpool to glory since the6 bought them for £300M back in October 2011.

But Newcastle fans don’t seem to believe Henry Mauriss is for real – certainly, we don’t know too much about him, other than he is the current CEO of ClearTV.

He made his money in the credit card and finance industry and his ClearTV network now provides services to airports and health care facilities around the US,

This is what a source told the Sun in a mid-June article:

“Mauriss is a charitable and honorable man – and is desperate to become Newcastle’s new owner. It’s a genuine bid.”

“He’s a successful player in the media world in America and has a big interest in English football.”

He has studied the way his fellow countrymen Werner and Henry have successfully rejuvenated Liverpool and made them one of the world’s dominant forces.”

“There is the promise of significant investment not only in the squad but also the club’s academy. It’s a fantastic business plan.”

“The investor has seen the way Liverpool’s owners have harnessed themselves with the local community and made it a team effort with everyone pulling in the same direction.”

“Newcastle have a huge and loyal support. It’s a club with massive potential.”

This should all sort itself out in the next week or so – but we’d be happy if the Saudis went back in tried to make the deal one last time.

Thought Matty scored 3 goals… Anyway , doesn’t matter but in a low scoring team where he’s one goal behind our 40 million striker and 3 ahead of the much lauded Carroll we’d have been better off keeping him for 40k a week than signing Bentaleb on 80k a week even though I don’t rate either of them that highly

If Mauriss is desperate then why isn’t it happening , even Ashley seems to be pushing the Saudi bid despite Mauriss offering an extra 50 million – hardly like Ashley …
Oh yes, that’s it …. Because the Mauriss bid doesn’t exist

Although we don’t know the in and out of what going on with Mattys contract extension contract, don’t think he is worth the alleged 30k a week. He is not that good. Perhaps he should seek another agent.

Hope this doesn’t effect his brother, who will get better and better.

Maybe there is a sibling rivalry thinking he should be matching his brothers wages.

If you haven’t signed the petition then you are clearly not a fan , it doesn’t matter if you think it will achieve anything – without your signatures it clearly won’t – we need signatures to bring worldwide attention to the fact we think the EPL have acted outside of the remit of O & D test and bring pressure on to them from media if nothing else

All the Saudis had to do was sort the piracy issue. The consortiums entire argument was that PIF was separate from the state. The PLs view was that the State was the ultimate beneficial owner of the PIF, hence the need for the State to be a director. And they would then have rejected the deal on the piracy issue. The consortium knew this so backed out. Times and Jim White should have been pushing the piracy angle with Staveley as that is the real issue. Not Ashley for once or the PL, as much as I despise them for allowing the process to run and run. Lazy journalism.

“Some of the PL’s maneuverings deliberately aimed at frustrating the deal. They wanted assurances that PIF is independent within Saudi. This they received in form of a letter from the highest economic authority in the Kingdom, which Masters then ignored.” https://t.co/rlcLQ6pSbT

Oldgit1 – I actually agree he’s not worth 30k a week but then if we look at the squad I wouldn’t pay more than 20k a week for Atsu, Saivet, Murphy , Rose , Bentelab, Krafth , Carroll , Muto , Linton and a whole host of others
Just because he’s local doesn’t mean he should play for love of club and 10k a week ( albeit I would myself 😀 )

The problem with wanting to do it the liverpool way is that liverpool are a global machine and therefore had the commercial income to invest heavily in their squad. Newcastle ain’t even a commercial beast in Britain, so Mauriss is dreaming if he thinks that we can do things the liverpool way. The sad fact is to get up the table we need an owner with deep pockets. Look how much money citeh have spent and even now they still don’t have a global brand

just say the league starts and theres no fans in the grounds come september, what do yous think were going to be like watching from the tv sets or a live feed online it will drive every single one of us round the bend, they dont realise that newcastle united isnt just a club its a relegion its in our blood, we all need to gather and without violence to start a march on the PL and all the clubs who voted no, we all have been used and abused for decades and it isnt just ashley its went on even when lord westwood was in charge this time to act

Onmeedsum – abramovich is a puppet of Putin and without his direct involvement Abramovich wouldn’t have any wealth – therefore by your reasoning the Russian state should be the director of Chelsea – give ower man

Abramovich had become close to President Boris Yeltsin, and had moved into an apartment inside the Kremlin
Abramovich was the first person to originally recommend to Yeltsin that Vladimir Putin be his successor as the Russian president.

The thing is if you want to march or protest outside the ground, you need to get organized, there’s no one else going to do for you, I’ve seen loads of people on twitter, asking Genjikia, he did it on in his own, with a couple helping him every home game, everyone wants some one else to do it, it’s always the same, stop asking, go and do it, contact The Magpie group, or another fans group.

So Ashley tried to squeeze Staveley for another 50 million?

It’s obvious to even the biggest Ashley hater that the reason the deal did not go through is because the EPL had major issues with the Saudis suitability, but we are still trying to lay it at Ashley’s door.
    Give it a rest guys!

“Newcastle fans don’t seem to believe Henry Mauriss is for real”. They didn’t believe BZG were for real and they didn’t believe MBS was real. It appears that Toon fans live in a world of make-believe.

As for the petition for an independent investigation into the collapse of the takeover – what a bunch of dreamers!

No wonder supporters of the other teams think we are deluded.
