On Friday, news emerged from Italy that Sassuolo left-back Rogerio had resurfaced as a Newcastle target this summer. Back in January 2019, there were multiple reports that Newcastle were negotiating to bring the Brazilian to Tyneside.
Nothing ever came from those reports and Rogerio eventually made his move to Sassuolo permanent last summer for a fee of £5m after spending two seasons on loan. He had been at the Juventus Academy since 2016 but never made a first-team appearance for the Turin giants.
After suffering a knee injury that sidelined him until December, Rogerio slowly returned to have a decent second of this season which has reportedly brought him back into Newcastle’s sights.
Sky Sports Italy is now backing these recent claims, originally made by Calcio Mercato. Maybe there’s something to these links to the 22-year-old.
He could be seen as a younger cheaper option with the Saudi takeover collapsing last week. While Steve Bruce is keen on bringing Danny Rose back this summer, his wages could prove an obstacle in the post-coronavirus economy.
There’s also Jetro Willems who is recovering from the knee injury he suffered in January. Willems could also be available for another loan spell with an option to buy.
He still has Newcastle on his mind as he recently tweeted the following about earning a place on a Premier League Newcomer of the Season team.
Hhmm not bad? for only 19 games? pic.twitter.com/eaALG27rUD

We’d be thrilled if Newcastle brought Jetro back for next season. It would also be good for the fans since the Dutchman was such a popular player in the first half of the season.
He is quite very versatile as he can play up the pitch and provide cover in the midfield as well. Hopefully, Willems is still an option for Steve Bruce.
We’ll also need to bring in another left-back in addition to Jetro with just Paul Dummett on the books. Long-term target Rogerio could be the one who fits the bill.

Comment #242Will fans stop blaming the Saudi side ffs we got bent over by the premier league it’s as simple as that.
Money and power talks and the opposers had a lot of money and a lot of power and sway in the league
Blame them, blame the corrupt league not the Saudis

Comment #244Five surgeons were taking a coffee break and were discussing their work. The first said, “I think accountants are the easiest to operate on. You open them up and everything inside is numbered.”
The second said, “I think librarians are the easiest to operate on. You open them up and everything inside is in alphabetical order.”
The third said, “I like to operate on electricians. You open them up and everything inside is color-coded.”
The fourth one said, “I like to operate on lawyers. They’re heartless, spineless, gutless, and their heads and their butts are interchangeable.”
Fifth surgeon said, “I like Royal Engineers…they always understand when you have a few parts left over at the end…”

Comment #24540802 signatures now, hopefully hit 45k today, possibly 50k.
Not very often I side with the club but Matty Longstaff in my opinion should have signed that new contract. He’s had a taste of premier league football, yes his game time would likely be limited but he could go out on loan to a championship side and develop, play most weeks. It’s worked well for Woodman.
Or a loan to Rangers, yes a weaker league but should get games and working every week with Gerrard could really help his game.

Comment #246Any of you guys got a dodgy box? I’m hoping to test one next week. It’s still gonna cost me 30€ a month I think but Sky have me fleeced at about 120€ currently and its my own protest after getting 5 signatures. I think I can download and record, for a week, on it. Anyone know much about what products are on offer generally out there?

Comment #253Mund I don’t think 60000 sigs will make much difference sadly. But there is only a limited time frame before this becomes yesterday’s news in a big way.
We need a new investor and I’m willing to see who Mauriss, or anyone else, can bring in as investors. Not as easy ask though, given Covid. I thought PIF were not concerned re that, but they referenced it in their rambling statement which I thought made them look a bit stupid. I love Mandys passion for nufc but I think she has been let down by her own side here.

Comment #254With no takeover the transfer targets change significantly but I still think these would be good business
Hickey from Hearts with season loan back to them
Downes from Ipswich with season loan back to them
Callum Wilson and Brooks from Bournemouth
Fraser free transfer
Lusamba free transfer (maybe, don’t know much about him)
Will Hughes from Watford, tenacious box to box midfielder I think we need
Edouard from Celtic
Willems
Angel Gomes free transfer (left Man U, may have been snapped up already)
Lazaro another loan
Mix of young talent, prospects and players with premier league experience.
Side something like this
Dubravka
Manquillo, Lascelles, Lejuene, Willems
Hayden, Shelvey
Brooks, Almiron, Saint-Maximin
Wilson
Subs
Darlow, Kraft, Dummett, S.Longstaff, Hughes, Fraser, Edouard
Offload Yedlin, Saivet, Muto, Atsu and Gayle. Possibly offload Schar or Clark.
