It was one year ago today that Newcastle made their best two signings of the summer in Allan Saint-Maximin and Jetro Willems. Both became big hits with the fanbase and proved to be quality Premier League talents.
Unfortunately, both Jetro and Allan had their share of injuries. In January, Willems suffered a season-ending knee injury that limited him to just 20 appearances overall with 2 outstanding goals and 2 assists.
As for Saint-Maximin, he just got better and better as the season progressed. He had two severe hamstring injuries but after returning from his second one earlier this year, he was almost unstoppable.
The 23-year-old finished the season with 30 appearances in all competitions. He scored 4 goals and added 7 assists.
Both players have reacted to the anniversary of them joining Newcastle United.

Jetro even responded to Newcastle’s tweet about Allan’s anniversary. He seems to have Newcastle on his mind a lot lately. Hopefully, that’s a good sign.
Big player, and Big respect to him????

Comment #47I have today written to The Prime Minister and also my MP Sir Alan Campbell
Dear Sir,
I am writing with regard the English Premier League and their decision not to give a decision on the proposed takeover of Newcastle United Football Club.
The request for a transfer of ownership was I understand put before the Premier League on or around the 9th April more than sixteen weeks ago culminating in the withdrawal of the offer to buy on the 30th July when it is reported that the EPL were sitting on a decision whereby they advised the buyer and the seller that they were neither going to pass nor reject the proposed deal.
Surely the EPL should make a decision one way or the other! Apart from the obvious disappointment from the “buying side” there’s also a massive, and I mean massive, sadness from the fans and supporters of Newcastle United F.C. at the breakdown of this proposed sale.
I’m sure that you will be aware of the present owner, Mr Michael Ashley who sadly only appears to look for a financial return from his ownership of the club and does not seem to be at all bothered about how the struggle for survival each season affects the loyal fans of Newcastle United.
Whilst I’m aware that the Government have no direct say in the running of the Premier League I’m sure there must be many other considerations perhaps of a national importance that have a bearing in this matter.
What I’m asking from you is a promise to look into this matter on behalf of all football supporters – to not make a decision one way or the other is quite frankly diabolical.
At the time of writing there is a petition for “An independent investigation into the EPL takeover process” that has been signed by almost enough people to fill St James’ Park the home of Newcastle United. I’ve no doubt that this petition could easily attract twice that number!
Kind regards
John J******

Here’s mine
Dear Mr Masters,
I’m writing this regarding the proposed take over of Newcastle United. I can totally understand the concerns of the Premier League and other people and organisations as I’m the first to agree that Human Rights have not been at the forefront of Saudi Arabia for a very long time. I do feel from what I have read and watched, that changes are now starting to be made over there, a long process, but on the road to getting things right. I really hope the Premier League can see fit to pass the tests and allow the Public Investment Fund (PIF) of Saudi to become a joint owner of Newcastle United.
Yes, I’m a Newcastle fan and season ticket holder, but I feel that this goes so much further than just the football club. I know things will go well for the team once and if the buyout takes place and that will have a major knock on effect for the area. More importantly, the PIF have also said they wish to invest into the area once they have bought into the club. As a resident of South Shields, 10 miles away from Newcastle, I know how important investment into houses, tourist attractions and jobs is so vitally important, even more so now with the economy because of Covid-19. The area needs this investment even more than the fans need the investment into the club. I and I’m sure the vast majority of the fans look upon this as more of a bonus to have a potentially successful football club again, than really the investment into the area, similar to what took place in Leicester, this is what the region is crying out for..
What would be great is the Premier League to let PCP, the Reubens and PIF buy the football club, allow investment to take place and also for potentially PIF to buy into TV rights for Saudi Arabia. I know so much money could then be invested into the Premier League and back throughout Football with this investment. I would hope to see clubs investing the money wisely and not just increasing players salaries, so more young children can come through and help local clubs an the national team in the long run. My Mothers cousin was the first substitute used in league football for Charlton back in 1965. I once asked him if he wished he was playing now and getting the big money, even more than his son was getting when he was a professional. He answered no saying, he was lucky, got paid more than the average man in the street for doing something he loved. This is the way forward to help improve the game and I’m sure if money was invested into the League by allowing an extra channel to be purchased in another country, the whole of English football would benefit from this buyout and not just Newcastle United and the North East in general.
Please I ask you to consider the buyout application and approve it as soon as possible for the sake of football and North East of England residents.
Yours sincerely
hibbit

Just got to try anything. What are the celebrations like down your way? Great to see another local team getting in the league, just need Gateshead, Darlo and Hartlepool back soon and hopefully South Shields only a couple of years away. Of course if they hadnt stopped the league, Shields would be so much closer now, Shields were the equivalent of Liverpool in that division.

Pints of Black Sheep bitter all round the nite
Just hope that Masters chap doesn’t chat up his mates in the lower leagues to check that you’re ft and proper to play in the Football League.
Mind he’s a bit ocker so shouldn’t be a problem.
In one season you could have a nearby derby with the Mackems, hold the dream.

Comment #75Seen you on there Mund. Dont know how much I can do, but going to try everything I can. I had even sent links and giving PIF information about INTU as another investment over in England, not just in the North East, but National. Want them also to see that of course we want our club to do well, but hoping they can also be helped out to help out the rest of the country. Also what we need the Premier League to see, that some things are bigger than football and they dont want to be held to account for holding the region and rest of the country back

Comment #77Simon376 Simon another fantastic letter, and fair play to you also, i know we are all gutted and the first natural reaction after the news of the failure of the takeover is not just dispondency but sheer anger, but we need to clear our heads, and letters like yours and John j is for sure in the right dirrection, it might not be successful, but as some fans have already said on here its better than doing nothing Simon. Comment #79Simon every little helps mate you’ve done a great effort and if all fans can do the same we can make a difference and I think we will be able to. I won’t stop campaigning against the league now because I can’t go back to football normally after all this. Hard enough with this regime but after what we have just been through it will never be the same again
