Comment #41It’s very hard to believe the PL wouldn’t want this level of investment and one more big team to enhance its product.
Other clubs objecting I understand, because it could mean a smaller slice of the pie for them, but of course not necessarily because a big Newcastle would of course mean a bigger pie.
The likelihood that the PL was overly weak, incompetent or even corrupt isn’t great though, although certainly possible.
The greater likelihood is that the bid was flawed, and that should be kept in mind.

Comment #45Takeover or Ashley the club really needs to still be looking to sign players
A couple of free transfers that would add some quality and mobility in midfield:
Jeff Hendrick – Free
Ryan Fraser – Free
Arnauld Lusamba – Free
Our midfield lacks athleticism sometimes so this would add to it Hendrick is better than Burnley (although Bruce’s tactics are worse than Dyche’s) and possibly with the likes of ASM and Almiron to play beside he could thrive

Comment #51It’ll be interesting to see if the Premier league say anything regarding this. Nobody here or on twatter etc etc is privy to the facts of what went on. Only the parties involved have got the answers.
Now if Staveley and the Saudis are talking bollox. The Premier league could absolutely sink them with their own side of the story and provide proof of what actually went on during this process.
I won’t be holding my breath though.

Comment #55Are the EPL culpable of Corporate Negligence?
To the outsider it looks like that.
They need to remove Masters from office and start again.
Otherwise they are exposed for what they are.
Fill in the blanks as you see fit.

Dear Mr AmessThis is a copy of an email I sent to Mr Johnson the Prime Minister, I wanted to send it to him as I believe the matter is of national interest not a local Leigh matter. However it seems that I have to write to you as my local MP therefore could you please as my representative in parliament add your voice to this request.Thank you

Comment #65If the prem had decided to block the sale, they would have needed to give a reason
They couldnt as there isnt one
So they instead made sure it was impossible
Due to vested interests and outside political pressure
They claim to be non political but its obvious thats an utter lie now, isnt it
They claim its a sporting enterprise but its obviously not, its more like some kind of reality show
Might was well watch love island

Comment #68Theyve lost sight of what made English football so popular
It was the competition
The drama
They want to try and keep that going while making sure there isnt any real competition, they need the 6 ish clubs to stay at the top for what seems forever
So they arrange things to keep the falicy going
Its like trying to keep Leeds and Villa top of the pile the whole time for the last 30 years while ignoring reality

Comment #70Perhaps now fans will realise the benefit of NUST. It’s the only fan representation we have that’s recognised by the PL. We’ve been easy to pick off before with all of the splinter groups that exist, but if we all join NUST our voice is powerful and will be heard. They had about 10k members at the start of the season after the last takeover farce, and I’m sure numbers are rising. It used to be £10/year but fans equated that to 3 pints, so it’s now £1. We should all join and stay members for our entire lives. It can only do good, but we have to accept their communications have to be a bit more professional than some radgies would like. May not bring the deal back, but we may get some answers.

Comment #74marters lied to M Ps when he said a decision was to be made soon he had no intention of making a decision he was prepaired to let newcastle stand still untill he got what he wanted for the pif to walk away he should be sacked as the prem league now looks corrupt and they should have looked more at who they give the rights for the tv rights to

Correct.
But most neutral fans would love the spectacle of a strong a Toon challenging again. We are different and it would improve the PL product. We need a league when any one of 8 teams can win. This could happen if the top 4 rotate as the money would be more evenly spread and top players wouldn’t just gravitate to the same 4 teams.

It’s ok us getting all passionate on this blog, but the Trust have to behave professionally. They took legal advice on the letters and decided to not release them at the time as it was felt they should remain private given the deal was ongoing.

The prem has 6 teams they can sell
Who people will pay to watch globally
The rest of us are here to create the drama, the relegation side of the deal
Its stopped being a sporting competition and is now a reality show
They seem to not see that they cant keep these teams there forever
