The Gillingham game was a great day, I was only about 12, went to Roker Park with Charlton fans, saw them beat them or at least over the 2 games home and away and put them down. Got beat up on the Monday at school mind. Funny story leading up to that. Keith, Lesley his wife, Gavin and his sister Lauren came over to ours for a meal the night before the game, never get away with that now. My Dad earlier in the day smashed the big glass dining room table when cleaning it. Anyway, that night, Keith told us about a player he had signed who would win the game. His brother in law Pete who also always stayed at ours with his wife Val, has seen the lad play against him in non league so many times. Keith eventually got to watch him he finally turned up for a trial. Signed him for 10 tracksuits and a sheet of iron. Tony Cascarino was the player. Great day with Newcastle fan also there to watch Sunderland go down. Cant believe so long ago now

Does it not want money from you for doing so, I think that’s what gets people ‘followers’ and with followers comes the advertising revenue.

Comment #7Quite like this Hendricks kid from Burnley, what little I’ve seen of him anyway. He’s free, at a good age and we need another midfielder in the group. Runs around, gets a leg in and can pass. Capablee centre EPL mid to compete with Shelvey, Hayden and Longstaff.
Against that, it’ll end up being a long term deal on decent money and not the sort of player you ideally want on the books if the takeover were to happen.
A good loanee the better option, but if we get the striker we need I won’t be unhappy to have him onboard.

Comment #13There needs to be a total revamp of football in this country from top to bottom all under one organisation that is also open to scrutiny..
The debacle over this takeover has shown that the single entity which is the “Premier league” is not a fit and proper business model..
Football as is other businesses is about to go through a wholesale catastrophe not just because of the virus but because the premiership top dogs are greedy beyond belief..
This farce that is being carried in totalitarian fashion in secret is not only disturbing it is disgraceful..
There should be one governing body that oversees everything, from the lowest to the top and finance should be spread as evenly as possible as well as to ensure the grass roots can also survive..

Noticed on main news they’re looking about how they’ve been reporting covid related deaths.
I think the gist of it was if a person passes away within 28 days of being tested positive it gets reported as a covid death.
If you didn’t see the news of course!

Id say its highly likely the turds tat shops are on their way down the crappa
He will probably see the prem is court for a massive amount of damages if that happens, might end them as a business
They might want to avoid getting into a mes but its way too late for that now

Burnley paid 10/12M for him only four years ago, that’s a fairly sizeable chunk for Burnley, why are they letting him go for free now instead of offering him a new deal two years ago? And what makes anyone think he’ll come here if money is his motivation?

Comment #20Let the deal go through and end up in a mess with Qatar
Dont let the deal through and have the turds lawyers tear them a new one
Id say they might as well let it through as after the turds lawyers end them as a business the government will wave them through anyhow
Just without them being in control of anything any more

Comment #27EPL must be one of the most self-centred outfits in the whole of the UK. They found it very, very hard to replace Scudamore (two appointees failed to do the job, definite, and a 3rd rumoured) and ended up giving the temporary make-weight the job (everybody’s friend, Mr Masters). They are, basically, rotten from the core. They are in charge of £ billions of income, and as everybody knows, power corrupts. It is really difficult to find any kind words for them, and the fact 50 MPs have publicly twigged this means very bad news coming for EPL. Couldn’t happen to nicer chaps.

No disrespect to PSG but what a waste all that money seems to be poured in to a club with little great history and in an inferior league, how much better the money would have been spent at a Valencia or Athletico or Torino or Lazio, Hamburg or even Newcastle United???

Comment #39Do we have anyone else here who genuinely couldn’t care less about this ongoing spat between Qatar and the Saudis?
When the term “sportswashing” first stsrted appearing in relation to the takeover I had assumed it was all nonsense, and that nobody would have their view of international politics swayed by who wants to buy the club they support.
Four months down the line and we haven’t even been sold, but most of our club’s fans now seem to be firmly pro-Saudi and anti-Qatar.
I’ve only seen a handful on here that don’t seem to be convinced.
Personally I don’t like either. Monarchism is medieval and both need to wake up and nove with the times.
Don’t get me wrong, I wouldn’t complain if either party bought the club, or anyone really for that matter as long as they had the funds to take us forward, but I have no interest in getting drawn in to the petty squabbles between the two states and I’m not going to change my opinion of them because they bought the club.
