The Newcastle United Supporters’ Trust (NUST) had what they called a ‘constructive’ 30 minute meeting with Premier League CEO Richard Masters, about the Newcastle failed takeover yesterday.
The proposed takeover was in the owners’ and directors’ test for a long four months before the PIF, and the consortium pulled the plug on the deal.
The Premier League was the host yesterday to the Football Supporters’ Association (FSA) and the NUST were on the agenda for 15 minutes – but that was later extended to 30 minutes.
It’s an attempt to foster discussion between the Premier League and the fans.
The NUST was represented by board member Thomas Concannon, and he put the fans’ questions directly to Masters and Bill Bush, the Premier League’s executive director.
Premier League CEO – Richard Masters
We have only a short update on the NUST Twitter account on the meeting”
Today we had a meeting with Richard Masters of the Premier League.
The chat on the #nufc takeover lasted over 30 minutes and it was constructive.
Before the meeting we agreed to wait for the PL to put out an ‘agreed minute’
As soon as we have that, members will be updated
— NUFC Supporters Trust (NUST) (@nufctrust) August 19, 2020
So we assume the PL will issue the minutes of the meeting before the NUST can say exactly what happened in the discussion from their viewpoint.
Hopefully we will get that today.
This all looks like the Premier League were biased against the Saudi-backed takeover from the very start.
And whether the deal can be resurrected is an open question, but that has to be difficult now.
And that’s a crying shame for the Newcastle club and our fans.
What do you think?
Comments welcome.

Comment #2We all know that NUFC are good for viewing figures for the TV networks, so we get royally screwed by the PL…. Then our games will be beamed live around the globe in and around the festive period.

Comment #3And if Hendricks has passed his Anna Friel type medical, here you go pet, drink two bottles of brown and piss in this container, then where is he in the shirt?
Also why does everything associated with our club just seem to be on a delay, takeover delay, NUST delay, signings delay, our strikers scoring goals, still a delay.

Sorry to hear about your friend especially as he had so little time to prepare, must have been hard on any family he had.
Lack of early diagnosis due to Covid is probably going to affect so many more.

On the fixture list, I believe it is excellent for us. 5 of last 6 matches we would probably lose at any time… well maybe we would something out of Sheff Utd.. My point is, apart from Fulham on last game of the season, we do not play any of the desperate clubs fighting for their lives. Think Watford 3 Pool 0. We will have to get the points early though

Comment #8We can’t really complain about the fixture list as we have to play every team anyway, be nice to get a decent start for once though, 6 points would be great 4 acceptable.

Thanks for your comments Bill, yeah it was all so sudden, his family are devastated naturally, but at least he is out of his pain and in a good place now.

You’re right, everything they do is snail pace or delayed! Probably because every executive decision has to be signed off by Ashley, who is obviously very busy.
God it’s stressful being a toon fan! There’s one major decision to make and Bruce should be banging on Charnley’s door if he can’t get to Ashley. That decision is we need a proven goal scorer! No ifs no buts otherwise we’re relegated!
