Inside Futbol is claiming in an exclusive that Newcastle have enquired about bringing Roma winger Cengiz Under in on loan this season. However, it appears that Roma are only open to offers of a permanent deal for the Turkish international.
Cengiz started only 10 league matches for Roma last season and is reportedly available for around £23m. He has been linked with moves to Arsenal and Tottenham in the past. Leicester City, Hertha Berlin, and Napoli are currently also tracking the 23-year-old.
Newcastle are in the process of offloading some players before they can add any more to the ranks. Chief candidates to be sent packing are Yoshinori Muto, Jacob Murphy, and DeAndre Yedlin.
If destinations can be found for Muto and Murphy bringing in another attacker could be on the cards. However, it is expected Bruce would add another natural striker rather than a winger.
Cengiz (shown above) is versatile and can play through the middle or on either wing but he is primarily deployed on the right flank. He is prone to the odd knock but his productivity at Roma has been compelling.
Since joining three years ago from Turkish club Basaksehir, Cengiz has scored 17 goals while adding 13 assists in his 88 appearances. He is also a Turkish international with 21 caps and 6 goals.
Cengiz is an electric player who would be an exciting addition if Newcastle could get him on board. However, that looks to be a distant possibility at the moment with Roma wanting a straight cash deal and Newcastle likely looking at loans.

Comment #6what if the consortium buy a 49% stake and then later when they are ready to takeover they still fail the O&D’s test.
something else. if they bought a 49% would Ashley be happy to spend more?

No mate and the only way for that to be confirmed is if we sign someone. That’s what I was hinting at earlier as there may be some clues the next week with a nice surprise signing. That would speak volumes to me.

Comment #13People will believe anything if they’re desperate enough to. “These aren’t Ashley signings” no but it’s not every season we start looking like one of the favourites for the drop either. He simply couldn’t risk bringing in another Joelinton.

Comment #17There is something weird going down up at SJP, Ashley is not behaving like Ashley of old, it’s almost as if he’s suddenley embraced the Toon Army after our support for the Saudis.
All very strange, a completely different approach to transfers and if the rumours are to be believed, a major overhaul of our training facilities.
Curiouser and curiouser as a young lady one said.

england have plenty of good strikers, sadly Southgate will never play them as Kane gets selected regardless of form.
Wilson is ahead of AC for starters.

For what it’s worth, my rule of thumb when abroad is eat where the locals eat – if it’s busy and the diners look ok, the food’ll be ok. Never eat at places that cater for tourists.

Comment #31An upgrade to the training facilities had been on the cards for a long time. Rafa was shown architects plans years ago. The fact they were never put into action was one of the reasons given for him leaving.
However, the plans were real and maybe just on the back burner. The question on everyone’s lips is, I guess, why now?
I’ll not hold me breath till ground is broken, though.

Comment #33Still buzzing from last night. ASM was being closely marked, but that left space for Lewis, particularly in the first half, Wilson and Carroll. If that continues to happen, well happy days, except for ASM I guess.

Comment #34Ashley has not changed or will he ever change, although he knows simpy nothing about football, even Ashley knew if he didnt sign a few decent players we were certs to be relegated this season, and he simply could not afford to let Newcastle slip back into the championship as he needs to protect his investment, in my opinion nothing more than that.
