Report – Newcastle Ask About Loan Move For International Attacker

Inside Futbol is claiming in an exclusive that Newcastle have enquired about bringing Roma winger Cengiz Under in on loan this season. However, it appears that Roma are only open to offers of a permanent deal for the Turkish international.

Cengiz started only 10 league matches for Roma last season and is reportedly available for around £23m. He has been linked with moves to Arsenal and Tottenham in the past. Leicester City, Hertha Berlin, and Napoli are currently also tracking the 23-year-old.

Newcastle are in the process of offloading some players before they can add any more to the ranks. Chief candidates to be sent packing are Yoshinori Muto, Jacob Murphy, and DeAndre Yedlin.

If destinations can be found for Muto and Murphy bringing in another attacker could be on the cards. However, it is expected Bruce would add another natural striker rather than a winger.

Cengiz (shown above) is versatile and can play through the middle or on either wing but he is primarily deployed on the right flank. He is prone to the odd knock but his productivity at Roma has been compelling.

Since joining three years ago from Turkish club Basaksehir, Cengiz has scored 17 goals while adding 13 assists in his 88 appearances. He is also a Turkish international with 21 caps and 6 goals.

Cengiz is an electric player who would be an exciting addition if Newcastle could get him on board. However, that looks to be a distant possibility at the moment with Roma wanting a straight cash deal and Newcastle likely looking at loans.

magicmac54, I hear what you’re saying, and as you know I’m no Ashley apologist, however he seems to be working differently. Maybe it’s cos he want’s to keep us mid table to get a decent return (makes sense), I really don’t know.

From the few clips I’ve watched, the new left back Lewis, looked very good. I’ll have to reserve judgement on the other two, although great they both scored. Onwards and upwards.

Hendrick took his goal beautifully. Other than that I thought he was a functional part of a functional team performance and certainly a significant part of the win on balance.

The even more pleasing aspect of the game was how well we held onto the ball in the final third and how we got bodies forward in numbers, particularly the fullbacks. We looked a decent side in defense, midfield and attack. A much more seamless and fluid unit.

I wouldn’t write off Joel either. All the players will benefit from having Callum Wilson up top, and hopefully a fit Andy Carroll, knowing that when the ball is played forward, it’ll stick, and Joelinton, a player with attributes, will likely be one of them.

DubaiMicky, Good post and i must say i largely agree with you post thats why i said he is protecting his investment, its not because he has suddenly taken a big interest in Newcastle United football club, i think he does want to sell this time, personally as much as it pains me to say it i dont think the saudis will be our new owners even Bruce said that takeover is dead in the water, but Newcastle are a huge club with massive pontential so i think there will be a takeover in the not to distant future, i think most fans would be happy enough with owners simular to the owners of Leicester Wolves or Everton Dubai Micky

So what about Hibbit’s story of Lord Grimstone being recruited by the consortium to push through the Saudi takeover?
