Games will be coming quick and fast this season, since it still needs to end on 23rd May after a late start.
The season kicked off about a month later than it usually does, because of the coronavirus pandemic, and the late finish to last season.
We got off to a terrific start on Saturday, with a very convincing 2-0 win at West Ham, but we still expect Bruce to change that side for tomorrow night’s game at home to Blackburn in the 2nd round of the League Cup.
Players like Gillespie, Krafth, Clark, Dummett (if fit), Longstaff (S), Ritchie, Almiron, new signing Fraser, and Joelinton could all start tomorrow night.
And the team would be almost as strong as the one Bruce played on Saturday, which shows the extra depth we have this season over last season.
Steve Bruce – will field strong side tomorrow night
Here is Neil’s team for tomorrow night and it’s a strong one:
This is some of what an upbeat Newcastle manager Steve Bruce said about tomorrow night’s game during his press conference this morning.
“We’ll take the League Cup seriously but we’re playing a lot more games together.”
“We have a squad, now. We had seven on the bench who would have got in the team last year.”
“I will make changes but I expect, with our strength, for us to get through.”
Results are everything in football, and we must try to go through to the next round tomorrow night, a defeat would be unacceptable after Saturday’s great performance.
Over 85% think we will win this game, so a defeat would not be good, and that’s an understatement.
There’s also a very decent chance we can have long runs in both local cups this season.
Maybe even win something this season.
Nah, I’m getting carried away again.
🙂

Comment #41Jail, give ower man! There’s no evidence, just a suspicion from some.
No, I couldn’t really care if this is the second coming of Jib, I trust the Harrisons to run their blog and police it the way they want, which leaves me free to post without long-running feuds developing.
And yes, I’m sympathetic to scott and anyone else who faces prejudice and bigotry daily, but I don’t think that’s what it was and I don’t think scott does either now, you just scented blood in the water.

It is understood that last week there was a meeting between the bid team and the Premier League with the UK Government also understood to have been involved at some level. Again there was no resolution, which prompted Newcastle’s statement. [Jason Burt]

Ask yourself how someone who’s been banned twice, has the nerve to undermine The Blog’s owner by posting again under yet another name.
Unbridled narcissism at best or sheer arrogance?

All to save face IMHO, especially when you read this… Quite bullish in relation to money, investments and their general clout…

Comment #53I don’t dislike jail in the slightest, we’ve had our ups and downs but he’s a good guy with his heart in the right place, and NUFC front and centre in that.
I just don’t think the blog needs another witch hunt. If Hexham toon does anything seriously out of order then let’s judge them on that.
Or let the esteemed Harrisons handle it.
Then we can concentrate on the actual footy.

The EPL may not have formally rejected the bid but it may be that Ashley’s legals’ll be arguing that by requiring further information over and above what’s been provided along with assurances from KSA, the application constitutes rejection.

Brewster would be a crackin’ signing.
Other good loan options would be Eddie Nketiah, Ruben Loftus Cheek and Connor Gallagher.
If AC Milan beat us too Soumare then we should go after their player Kessie on a loan to buy.

Maybe, we know bugger all, but ashley must fancy his chances of winning bcos those Barristers won`t come cheap.
He could of course be paying for the court case via the 17M he got from the consortium.
That is IF it goes to court.

I’d love to get RLC in he can cover CAM as well, just got some bad luck with injuries unfortunately
Think that Gallagher is off to West Brom though? I think we need a CB and a Striker personally. Seems to be a lot of options around at the moment though. I hope we aren’t done in the market yet

Comment #73Let’s hope we have continued success throughout the start of this season so we can just focus on the team. Hopefully something to buzz about while things work away in the background. We certainly haven’t heard the last of it and tbf this part will no doubt be played out in the media as that’s what Ashley’s camp will want.

Comment #80Some misleading stuff around about these barristers. The below is from the Chronicle
“The pair must now get right into the nitty-gritty of Ashley vs the Premier League.”
That’s not exactly true – barristers are trial lawyers, it’s the solicitors who will build the case, with some input and guidance from the barristers as to what will work in court. In this case, it’s Ashley’s retained lawyers at Dentons who will do / are doing / have already done the heavy lifting.
They will provide the dossier to the two barristers who will then prepare it and present it in court, should it get that far.
