Newcastle Vs. Blackburn – Revised Team Prediction, Injuries, And Poll Result

This is the team I initially predicted Steve Bruce would name for tonight’s Carabao Cup match against Blackburn. It has six changes from the West Ham win. However, it appears that Bruce has stated both Joelinton and Matt Ritchie will play so I am way off.

It looks like Bruce will go with Joelinton at striker and Miguel Almiron as the number 10 if both Ryan Fraser and Matt Ritchie are starting as well. That’ll push Sean Longstaff deeper into the midfield.

So here is a revised prediction based on the seven players Bruce said will play a part tonight. Hopefully, training with Callum Wilson for a week will have rubbed off a bit on Joelinton.

Newcastle’s injury situation has cleared up a bit. We are down to five players out with Matty Longstaff and Paul Dummett likely close to a return.

Newcastle Injuries

Dwight Gayle – knee, Martin Dubravka – heel, Fabian Schar – shoulder, Matty Longstaff – thigh, Paul Dummett – hamstring

Blackburn Injuries

Bradley Johnson – ankle, Bradley Dack – knee

After the excellent win at West Ham on Saturday, the fans are buzzing about this team. Our poll reflects that optimism and shows a fanbase that is highly confident we’ll get past Blackburn to face either Morecambe or Oldham away in the third round.

Be interesting to see how Armstrong has developed there were rumours Bruce wanted to sign him this summer earlier in the window

Saw him a few times last season and he doesn’t look like a lost little boy that he did with us matured a fair bit

Dack I quite like the look of still young enough that he could also be good for a premier league team

Will also be good to see how some of the fringe players perform particularly the likes of Richie and Longstaff

Richie has a real fight on his hands to get a game if everyone is fit so will be good to see if he still gives 100% in every game I am sure he will!

Does anybody know if there’s a SKY PL highlights show that show an hour of all the highlights after every game has been played on the Monday or Tuesday.

Lcbp, we could potentially still be in for Arma, but I imagine that the price won’t be small.

If he does well tonight, the fairy tale could be on.

Don’t know if they still do it, but seem to remember sky sports news would show goals just after they’ve happened in some cup games.

    @Robleenio

Its funny if he hadn’t already have played for us (like Toney as well) I feel he would be one of those championship ones to watch that everyone would be raving about and wanting to sign

17 goals for Blackburn last season is pretty impressive and some of them were lovely strikes

I know BobbyBee who posts on here used to love him after watching him in the reserves maybe he could come back and thrive this time around?

Newcastle United are one of a number of clubs competing for the signature of Liverpool striker Divock Origi. #nufc [Daily Mirror]

Would love to see us sign another striker Origi would be great! Similar quality to Wilson so you could play them together or rotate them at times

Origi might be looking for guaranteed game time though

True and I’d imagine a few would be in for him but I’ve been surprised so far this window what’s to say there won’t be more surprises to come.

    Hope so

Origi would be an outstanding signing, and the competition could help Joe ground himself a bit – especially with his link up play when he drops deep.

    @Mund

Certainly if we were to get someone in of his quality on a purchase or a loan to buy you would have to wonder if the consortium are picking the players somehow?

The more premier league proven guys we have the less likely we are near to a relegation battle and Wilson with Origi as first choice strikers would actually be good for a few years under a new regime till we can afford the likes of Mbappe etc haha

Fraser to score first goal 6 to 1. Newcastle to score first ten minutes 6 to 1.

If we sign anymore players or even if its only one more player its obvious it should be a striker as we are only an injury to Callum Wilson away from being back to square one with no proven striker who can put the ball in the onion bag, big Andy is good to have in around the squad possibly as the 3rd choice striker, we seen the vast difference a proper striker made against West Ham, it would be brilliant to get another decent striker through the door and could be the difference in finishing possibly 10th to 13th or much lower. We still have loan slots to use up as well

Origi and Loftus-Cheek on loan with options to buy would improve us significantly for the next few seasons

Would speak absolute volumes to me mate if we pulled in Origi. Been saying if and when we bring anymore in, if we have spent more money then that certainly points to the consortium.

Wonder where Joelinton is playing tonight would seem an ideal chance to give him a go as a striker tonight with

    Almiron LW
    Longstaff no 10
    Fraser RW

    Behind him creating chances

He’ll probably give Fraser a half and replace him with Atsu in the second half. I wouldn’t risk pushing Fraser too hard this early in the season. Best to introduce him slowly until he’s up to full speed.

One camera, no commentary. £10. I doubt this game would cost that much live. Under the “buy a pass” button they should just go ahead and post a link to a live rip off stream. 🙂
