Newcastle Vs. Blackburn – Revised Team Prediction, Injuries, And Poll Result

This is the team I initially predicted Steve Bruce would name for tonight’s Carabao Cup match against Blackburn. It has six changes from the West Ham win. However, it appears that Bruce has stated both Joelinton and Matt Ritchie will play so I am way off.

It looks like Bruce will go with Joelinton at striker and Miguel Almiron as the number 10 if both Ryan Fraser and Matt Ritchie are starting as well. That’ll push Sean Longstaff deeper into the midfield.

So here is a revised prediction based on the seven players Bruce said will play a part tonight. Hopefully, training with Callum Wilson for a week will have rubbed off a bit on Joelinton.

Newcastle’s injury situation has cleared up a bit. We are down to five players out with Matty Longstaff and Paul Dummett likely close to a return.

Newcastle Injuries

Dwight Gayle – knee, Martin Dubravka – heel, Fabian Schar – shoulder, Matty Longstaff – thigh, Paul Dummett – hamstring

Blackburn Injuries

Bradley Johnson – ankle, Bradley Dack – knee

After the excellent win at West Ham on Saturday, the fans are buzzing about this team. Our poll reflects that optimism and shows a fanbase that is highly confident we’ll get past Blackburn to face either Morecambe or Oldham away in the third round.

You also failed to mention rafa’s shocking failure at chelsea when he took them over in midtable got them CL and won the Europa league all in the same season.

I reckon the revised predicition is fairly bang on, think Miggy might be more forward in a 4-4-2 rather than the 4-2-3-1 there though

I’d start Muto over Joelinton for the cup tie. The brazilian had 35 games last season, Muto barely managed 35 minutes. He can’t be any worse, why not give him a go?

My guess is that Muto’s appearance fee is higher than Joelinton’s, so it would cost us maybe £5k a week more to play him than the Brazilian…

If Hayden, Fernandez and Lewis do start I don’t expect them to be on for long. I can’t see Bruce losing his golden ticket by getting them crocked so early.
