Report – Newcastle Touted With Surprising Interest In Liverpool Striker

The Mirror is reporting that Fenerbahce have enquired about taking Liverpool striker Divock Origi on loan this season. However, they name a quartet of Premier League clubs including Newcastle as having an interest in the 25-year-old.

Newcastle have reportedly enquired about a loan move for Liverpool’s Rhian Brewster as well. Though, a decision on the 20-year-old’s future at Liverpool is up in the air at the moment. There have also been claims Brewster could be available for a permanent move at the hefty price tag of £25m.

Reports that Origi could also be on the move is surprising as he’s scored some crucial goals for Liverpool over the years and has gained a cult status amongst the fan base. However, he is not first-choice and made only 7 starts in the league last season and just 4 the season before.

The Mirror says the Belgian international could be open to a move away from Anfield for a chance at first-team football. According to claims from Turkish journalist Ekrem Konur, Fenerbahce are the first to attempt to get the striker in.

Konur says that Liverpool could sanction a loan move for Origi if it included a loan fee as well as a mandatory purchase clause. The journalist’s claim that the transfer fee would be just £14m seems very low to us.

Origi has four years left on his current contract. He joined Liverpool from Lille in 2014 for around £11m. At Anfield, he’s made 140 appearances with 34 goals but has played second fiddle to Liverpool’s outstanding front three over the past few seasons.

The other Premier League clubs cited with an interest are Aston Villa, Brighton, and Fulham. We would think Newcastle would be a much more enticing destination that those three or Fenerbahce.

    In a Murray walker voice

Oh, look and there they go, straight out the blocks. Did you see the velocity at which catchy and munster accelerated into that rafa benitez rant. That’s a 0 – 60 I’m not going to see again. The whole argument and narrative is absurd. Can we give it a rest now.

Can’t believe how long this has went on today and why go on about at all.

New season, an opening day victory away from home with a clean sheet and 2 debutant scorers. All the positivity around the Staveley led takeover and we still talk about this crap.

    Uncertain

I thought I had typed 11, but with the 4 being just under the 1, I caught that, but hey ho, 11 games and joint 2nd bottom with 3 games to go in that group stage, doesn’t look good for this season.

He can always try again next year, that 12 million a year hid didn’t leave us for is a great pension filler.

He will never get another top top club again.

He only chases money now, so that’s clubs like us, trying to appease the fans without actually going for anything.

Catchy – nobody cares mate, we support the current team whoever is in charge – and currently it’s Bruce who will take all plaudits or criticism – we have a match tonight, why don’t you concentrate on that

As long as supporters unfairly give Bruce a hard time and some on here are appalling then people will defend him by making comparisons to Rafa.
If you don’t like Rafa being dragged up long after he’s gone then don’t blame Bruce for the Covid pandemic and global warming!

    Darnik,

Which IPTV do you use? I’ve tried a few in the past and found them to be down as often as they are up. Does yours require a separate VPN? I always prefer going on recommendation for these things.

Currently the best manager under Ashley has been Pards – surely if anyone we should be comparing our current incumbent to him … Think Pardew is currently unemployed too so if it goes tits up we can get him back 😀
