Report – Newcastle Again Linked To Striker In Contract Stalemate

When takeover fever was still raging on Tyneside, Newcastle were linked with an interest in Napoli striker Arkadiusz Milik in early June.

It wasn’t the first time the Polish international was on Newcastle’s radar. Back in 2015, when Milik was just 20-years-old and plying his trade at Leverkusen, he was reportedly scouted by former-Newcastle chief scout Graham Carr.

Milik is now entering the final year of his contract with Napoli and looks no closer to signing a new deal. Just after news of Newcastle’s interest resurfaced earlier in the summer, Napoli Sporting Director Cristiano Giuntoli said the following about his star striker’s contract statemate:

“The desire is to renegotiate his contract, so we are talking with his agents.

“The objective is to resolve the situation, one way or another. If he doesn’t want to remain, then he will go on to the transfer market.

“Players can remain as long as they do so with the right mentality. Napoli will go forward, with or without Milik.”

Serie A is due to kick off their new season this coming weekend, and Napoli will likely want the situation with Milik to be resolved. Early in the summer, they placed a lofty price tag of around £45m on him despite his contract situation.

Sport Witness is citing a claim from Italian newspaper Tuttosport that Napoli’s asking price has dropped significantly and Newcastle have made an approach for the 26-year-old.

The report claims Newcastle, Tottenham, and Roma are in contact with Napoli over the player. His valuation has now dropped to around £18m plus bonuses. However, there appear to be two obstacles to Milik landing on Tyneside in our opinion.

The idea made sense when Newcastle were about to be taken over by the Saudi-backed consortium. With the takeover currently off, it seems a stretch that Newcastle could persuade Milik to come to Tyneside.

There’s also the notion of Mike Ashley opening up the coffers to add a second striker at close to £20m. We don’t think Steve Bruce’s powers of persuasion are quite that mighty.

I’ll save the repost as my footie knowledge is as good as my predictions – extremely lacking with little to no content to interest the reader….

Seems I just described my CV too 🙁

    Catchy

I don’t like reporting anyone on here and have never done so but if you use the word retard one more time so god help me. There are people on here who have people in their families with disabilities and learning difficulties etc. I realise you possibly lack the sensitivity and awareness to engage but there is a line and you’ve crossed it way too many times.

That Graham Potter at Brighton is a brilliant young coach. With what he has they play great stuff. Soton manager the same. If Potter had the Chelsea squad against Lampards Brighton last night they wouldnt have got the ball and Lampard would have whinged about investment. And talk of Pardew is pathetic he was a complete charlatan. Sooner have JFK

You can see exactly why these are the reserves! We’re being outplayed by Blackburn here.
