Report – Newcastle One Of Three Clubs After Experienced Defender

Newcastle were recently linked with Bologna right-back Takahiro Tomiyasu. The interest in the 21-year-old was confirmed by local reports.

Newcastle are currently trying to trim their squad of excess players. Of which they have quite a few at the moment. That’s definitely the case at right-back where there are three on the books.

DeAndre Yedlin is the odd man out and it’s suspected he will be moved on this summer. He finds himself behind Javier Manquillo and Emil Krafth while entering the final year of his contract.

Even if Yedlin gets moved, adding another right-back this window seems unlikely. Bruce recently stated it wasn’t ‘healthy’ to have three at the club. Though Newcastle really seem to like Tomiyasu.

Sport Witness have cited a report from Columbia that Newcastle, Wolves, and Everton are interested in Atletico Madrid’s Santiago Arias (pictured above).

Like Newcastle, Atletico have three right-backs on the books with Arias now deemed to be surplus. The Colombian is reportedly available for just over £14m though, at 28, we can’t see Newcastle making a permanent move for him. Especially when the younger Tomiyasu could be snatched for just a little bit more.

Arias joined Atletico Madrid two years ago from Eindhoven but last season made only 18 appearances. He finds himself behind Croatian international Sime Vrsaljko and former Spurs right-back Kieran Trippier.

Arias has 53 caps for Colombia and could strengthen the right-back position. However, he’s been heavily linked with a move to Everton to join fellow Colombian James Rodriguez.

We just don’t think a right-back is on the cards for this summer though either Tomiyasu or Arias would be solid additions.

    From previous:
I’ve never understood this “interest free loan” to the club from Ashley and assume there a tax advantage to him calling it a loan. It started when he apparently didn’t realise there was £90 million owed on the stadium when buying the club for £134 million. Therefore it should have been £224 million! I find this hard to believe! Anyway he then made the loan to the club to cover the shortfall and pay off the amount owed. The club could have carried on paying off the loan normally and it would be gone by now. Ashley could still sell for £340 million and his profit would be £206 million after 13 years!

‘War cry’ to you. To me, a far too late in the day screech of a raggedy vixen fox being buggered behind the garden shed.

    Steve Bruce’s team-news ahead of #NEWBRI.

“It’s still a bit too early for Dummett, [Matty] Longstaff, Schär and Dubravka. Everybody else seems to be OK and we have a clean bill of health from the other night. Allan Saint Maximin is fine.

Yeah GT you should stick to the safe home grown kebabs back here in Blighty. The ones made by virtually every other nationality but Turkish as I have found. :). I hope that didn’t come across as Kebabist.

Bruce: “We’ve got ourselves an opportunity against a very good Brighton side – I watched them last week against Chelsea. We’re going to have to be patient because they are going to have a bit of the ball. We had two nil-nils against them last year.

Decent odds this will be the last game shown on MOTD2 on sunday..

Apparently there is a mathematical application that explains the relation to increased alcohol ingestion and the corresponding decrease in personal food standards.

    C2H50H x X = Pie – Rs2 or something like that

It’s the one GT should have calculated before he ate his kebab I reckon.

No there’s a slightly different calculation for general personal standards. Usually all have a common theme. More alcohol / Lower standards measured on the Beer Scale. Hence Beer Goggles, Beer Coat and so on.

In my experience, it’s normally things like ice cubes in your drink that cause the upset stomachs rather than the piping hot food.
