Steve Bruce has given his press conference ahead of Sunday’s match against Brighton. Of course, he was initially asked for an update on the injury front. The good news is there are no surprises as he names four Magpies who are still out.
? Steve Bruce's team-news ahead of #NEWBRI.
"It's still a bit too early for Dummett, [Matty] Longstaff, Schär and Dubravka. Everybody else seems to be OK and we have a clean bill of health from the other night. Allan Saint Maximin is fine. pic.twitter.com/236gJmfy6k

Allan Saint-Maximin went down with a knock to his knee late in the Blackburn match. However, after the game, Bruce immediately alleviated any fears about his star man by affirming that the Frenchman was ok.
Bruce didn’t name Dwight Gayle, who is out for four months with his knee injury, as he’s not close to a return. Though, it appears that the four he named are making progress.
The big one is Martin Dubravka, who is expected back early next month from his foot injury. Paul Dummett, Fabian Schar, and Matty Longstaff are likely not first-teamers at the moment though will have a part to play when they return.
Ciaran Clark made his return after eight months on Tuesday against Blackburn. It’s been an even longer spell for Dummett who went down in January. He returned after lockdown to train with the squad but had a set back in pre-season.
So all in all, it’s a decent injury update wth no new casualties to report after our first two matches of the campaign.
