Newcastle Crush Morecambe In 5-0 First Half

The lads have stomped Morecambe 5-0 in the first half. While it is a League Two club, there’s been some quality play from the Magpies so far tonight.

Newcastle came out in a 4-2-3-1 with DeAndre Yedlin playing at left-back and Emil Krafth on the right. Joelinton led the line with Miguel Almiron behind him.

It didn’t take long for Newcastle to seize the early lead. Emil Krafth carried the ball into the box from the right after receiving it from Murphy. The Swede passed it to Almiron who directed the ball to Joelinton. The Brazilina tapped it home. What a start from Newcastle.

It should of been another for Joelinton in the 10th minute. Jacob Murphy did brilliantly to beat two men and surge to the byline where he chipped a cross toward the back post. Joelinton just watched the ball flutter in the air and bounce of the inside of the post before rolling into the Morecambe keeper’s gloves. A baffling moment from the Brazilian.

But Newcastle kept pushing and added another through Miguel Almiron. Jacob Murphy, who has been on fire, guided Miguel Almiron through on Mark Halstead. Miggy dribbled around the keeper before rifling the ball into the net.

In the 28th minute, Jacob Murphy got his well-deserved goal. Murphy won the ball in the Morecambe half and surged toward the box before burying a left-footed shot into the bottom corner.

Newcastle continued to heap the misery onto the Shrimps. Joelinton bagged his second of the evening just four minutes after Murphy. It was a beauty from Big Joe. He gathered the ball on the left, cut inside, and looped in a long-range effort.

Toumani Diagouraga then received a straight red for a challenge on Sean Longstaff. The flurry of goals calmed down for a bit but Newcastle added a fifth just before the half time whistle.

Isaac Hayden gathered a pass from the left and drifted inside before launching a bullet in the back of the net. The goalscoring exhibition continues for Newcastle.

We expect Bruce to make a few changes to save a couple for Tottenham. Some candidates could be Andy Carroll for Miguel Almiron and Dan Barlaser for Isaac Hayden. We’ll see what Bruce decides to do.

Bet that’s the first time Neil has put the words ‘Newcastle crush’

Someone said we’re getting carried away. People aren’t getting carried away, we are playing well and usually make hard work of these games against lower league opposition. I’d say we are enjoying the game and the quality of the goals.

Murphy surely makes the squad now

Goals good for Joelinton’s confidence and Longstaff getting game time, plenty of positives.

Bruce needs to sub Almiron and Hayden – they definitely need to play against spuds …. may as well give fraser some time on the pitch to get match fit

Agree, we can get Barlaser on now and rest Hayden for 2nd half.

tbf we could probably rest Lascelles and chuck Carroll up top too

Murphy is the best player on the pitch…..not much competition mind but were doing what we need to for a change…its like an entirely different mindset, but this is how we should be approaching all games….try and score goals, and not try not to conceded them ,we can try and do both Steve…..honest we can !!!

    Geordie157,

Exactly. You can only beat the team infront of you and we so often struggle against the sides we should be beating. I know as Newcastle fans we’re naturally pessimistic but just enjoy what has been a really good performance so far!

Side note, does anyone else’s stream have some blokes talking in the background?

Nowt wrong with enjoying your team scoring a hatful for goals. We all know who we’re playing against, we’re not daft. Hopefully it’ll give the lads a much needed boost of confidence ahead of the Spurs game.

There’s probably one or two out there who might have made Bruce’s mind up for him when it comes to them staying at the club or not. It’ll be interesting to see how Murphy would do up against harder opposition.

Before the sending off, the midfielders were taking up posititions just outside of the CBs and the backs were pushing up. Obviously to exploit the lack of quality in the opposition we were penetrating up the sides. Unfortunately there was little use of passing through the middle and this has only got worse now they have parked the bus.

Has to be said Morecambe have hardly put a tackle on us apart from the red card but there are a lot of positives:

Forgot how much Longstaff and Hayden compliment each other both know where to be and we look so much more fluid as a unit when they play together

Murphy best player on the pitch we need to keep him and let him get some games this season so much better when he starts a game as well

    Almiron producing the goods

Joelinton lovely 2nd goal if he is ever going to become a player then this is a good platform to build from

    Essex

You’re not alone in saying that Bowis is trying. He’s nowt more than the face of the Tories, as he was for the last election. For some reason, he’s popular with people, but the reality is, he is PM in name only. The real force is Cummings who’s pursuing a right wing agenda at the behest of Russia, Trump and other dark forces.

How anyone can feel Johnson’s doing or saying anything other than he’s told is naive to say the least.

When will the British voter wake up? Will it wake up before it’s too late?

Frightening times and I seriously worry for the current crop of young people. Bless them, the victims of their forebears’ greed and selfishness.

Hey ho. Rant over and on a positive note, five nowt up.

    🙂
