Steve Bruce has given his press conference at 12:15 this afternoon for the game at Tottenham on Sunday, which has a 2:00 pm kickoff time.
Bruce touched on many subjects.
He talked on the transfer market, but that he needed to move some players out before he brought more in.
The three obvious ones that he needs to move out are Rolando Aarons, Achraf Lazaar and Henri Saivet.
The last two being simply awful acquisitions by the club, and they have never been good enough.
But they are on the Newcastle payroll, and the very least Bruce wants to do is to get them out on loan.
Bruce also talked about the game at Morecambe which was a very satisfying win by 7-0.
That was a relief given the awful performance in the previous game at home to Brighton lat Sunday when we lost 3-0.
He also talked about playing against big clubs like Tottenham.
Bruce said we are not good enough to go head to head with them, so we have to think of some tactics whereby we can win or draw.
But tactics seem to be one of Bruce’s weaknesses, while it was Rafa’s big strength, so that insight by the manager will hardly cheer up the long-suffering Newcastle fans.
Newcastle manager Steve Bruce
Here’s some of what Steve Bruce said in his press conference today, starting with possibly more players coming in:
“We’re never going to say never.”
“The big clubs haven’t finished yet.
“If there’s something which can improve us, we’ll always look to do it.
“But we need 1 or 2 to leave the building to do that”
“The players did everything asked of them at Morecambe.”
“If they sensed an opportunity to get into the team then they’ve performed that way. Let’s hope I do my bit on Sunday by picking the right team.”
“We can’t think we can go and play against the top teams and match them just in a game of football.”
“We have to do something different, tactically. We did it well against the top teams last year.”
“Let’s hope we can do the same again this year.”
And not many of us think we can win the game at Tottenham on Sunday afternoon.
Bur a win would be stupendous!
What do you think?
